Agree young man... Also - if my memory is correct, I have a mate that bought from Red Dragon lofts... which means I have a few off his... My favourie bird was 'The Stamvater'! I believe that this loft housed descendants....
-
Bussechearst started with Delbars just after the war... But the origin of the Delbars is sceptical really!
-
Yep... either penned up with the birds... feathered type, or the Misses... lol wished I'd put them lights in the loft this past week lol loft

There is any in there in the first place.... No yogurt can have live bacteria... and dead bacteria is just that DEAD.... Bruno, come on mucker sort this out for them.
-
OK so pigeon can contact Avian Flu... or rather be given it. It eefects their brain... tests are needed to see whether this can be passed on. BVut if a pigeon sneezes....

You know, I'd wager good money, that at a drop of a hat, given a different scenario, a different slant, or indeed an actual realism then most wouldn't be seen for dust, let alone backing anybody or anything. And what amazes me even more is just what these ‘Back Patting exercises are in aid of? I for one know not, nor has it ever been shown, let alone any proven or otherwise any discrepancies!!! So just what the hell you lot scratching and patting backs over? Further just what has Seanuk done? Or supposedly done that causes this blind panellist to exist. If it is supposedly a PERSON had a go... fine so what! Never mind a collective bunch! If any one is, or has been charged, then it is perfectly proper and concise to say that 'THE UGLY ONE HAS BEEN QUESTION AND MAY HAVE CHARGES BROUGHT TO BEAR' This personally as far as I am concerned is no more than a figment of imagination running wide... let alone any basis. Police DON'T charge, they firstly make inquiries. Then consult the 'Legal Team' then submit evidence, then the DPPC says whether there is a case to be answered... then whether it is A. In the public interest B. worth the cost to the tax payer. Now I may be stupid, a bit doo - lally, but I doubt personally that any one would be charged. Certainly not that quick, and can't for love or money see where it is in the 'Public's Interests' to sue spend thousands of pounds on what a person. may or may not have said, implied etc. on a PUBLIC web site. Golly takes months to sort Perverts out Grooming our innocent children. I would say further that IF, AND the IF IS A MILE LONG AND WIDE that if any action was taken, and hours of valuable police time and resources are wasted over such stupidity then I for one, not only as a Tax payer, I for would be protesting severely to the highest level. Bloody hell rapes and pillages, old people beat up and rob and what are our police spending time effort and money on... A Bloody slur on a needless and stupid bloody website!!! Wake up and get real for pity sake!!! And don't any body waste any senile stupidities in replying to this post... for that indeed would be too contemptuous to bear! WAKE up the alarm went off yonks ago, and someone needs to get a life... I know he nearly has one here. Just let me have the Police stations addie! If any one feels I am out of order so be it.

Bob Flemming once stated that true long lasting great families of pigeons must be built around winning pigeons from 600, 700 and 800 miles. I have been giving this a great deal of thought, and I think I agree with him. This of course does not mean that all pigeons in your loft must fly these distances or that pigeons that win at 200-450 miles and get lost at 500-700 miles cannot be great pigeons, just not the right type to build an entire family around. Since it is impractical and in all likelihood foolhardy to ship all our good combine winning pigeons to these extreme distances, the question becomes, how do we identify these great performers at 600-800 miles without throwing the baby out with the bath water. I think the key may be a specialty long distance club where the members would keep a separate group of birds with the sole purpose in mind of testing them at the extreme distances on a regular basis to try and identify those few key foundation breeders. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea? The need to test them is still a problem but, I think if all participants in any 500+ race were made to show proof that the bird had already flown 500 miles in the past, much of the business of using these races to sort out the left over’s from the race season would disappear. I often believe when I see how the greats blended the 'Families' and just how much distance birds are incorporated, that it has been widely acknowledge that these birds are mainly the very essence of any improvement in pigeon terms. I guess what I'm saying is. Retain the breeders and fly the others to the max. You can't build a family on birds which have only shown an ability to fly the short distance races. ALL of the original old families on which this sport was created, were formed around long distance birds. Therefore it stands to reason that these birds which can only fly competitively from 350 to 400 miles are lacking the original long distance qualities, or not allowed to show the merit that their’ predecessors possessed. The ability to fly the ultimate longer distances. 6 to 800 Miles. Even 1000! Because this is advice has been proven correct many, many times, the 500's are nearly a sprint. Any and all owners who wish to build their’ own winning family, owe it to themselves to study, learn and record the features and all the other characteristics of the birds and they're eyes. Especially those of any FOUNDATION BIRDS and, watch for them re-appearing in the offspring of the breeders. I am not an authority on Jim Biss or his doings. I am a fan of his and Pierre Dordin but, I know that he was regarded as an excellent stock man with an uncanny ability to select what he needs. Yet his Natrix etc. won at the sprints and the distance in the same season On the other had I found this string in some archives, which I felt is well worth a read, some excerpts from a book written by Jerome J. Platt, a retired pigeoneer of the US military and published in the July 15th R.P. Digest. --- ‘The military certainly has no interest in long distance homing. Their purpose is to get messages from the front or just behind enemy lines to mobile lofts just a few miles away. Certainly rarely if ever over 100 miles! This is what caught my eye. "Another important event in the company's history was the birth of our first pigeon. A silver cock and a blue hen donated to the army by Roland D. Birch of Salem, OR hatched a healthy baby. These birds were of a breeding line developed in Oregon and called "Old Line" strain. Later we discovered the "Old Line" strain of birds could out fly most any of the strains developed in other parts of the country. It was the result of "survival of the fittest" in Oregon's perpetual rain and fog along the coast. Mr. Ralph E. Warren of Portland Ore is credited with the origin of the "Old Line" strain of homing pigeons. He started with two pairs of birds in 1908 and carefully selected his breeders for succeeding generations from birds THAT HAD FLOWN FROM 500 MILES AT LEAST TWICE. As recently as 1971, I talked with Ed Johnson, a buddy from the 281st Signal Pigeon Company days, and he told me the "old Line" strain was still winning races in the Portland club." So the military were interested in "sprint" flights only, found their best birds came from a family with a mandatory performance testing standard of a minimum of two 500 mile races in the mountains of the west coast of North America’. -

ho are you!! What does it matter? Or does it really matter! No of course not, not a jot! You become and are judged on this and all other sites - or should be - on what you post! Personally I couldn't give a ‘Pickled rat's tail’ one way or another just who, or any one else is. If I don't like a post I either ignore it, or I may say so. If I can akin to a topic fine... if not then that MEANS I need to be learning something, big time ... and as I am here firstly to learn, secondarily to help if can. I for one am certainly not the 'Be all, end All big Knob’!. Neither have I personally any desire whatsoever to be so. I am also not afraid of WHO it might be that I am replying too, whether they are a great NAME or a novice, for you know what! My answers would be and are the same. If I feel I may be able to help some one, or point them in the right direction, great for I have been able to have helped someone ... So feeling of pleasure is permitted lol. If not then they have lost nowt, neither have I. And if I can't help I don't try. I personally have a view on most, if not just about every things, so I am obviously wrong quite a bit. ... But then again I know I post things worthwhile from time to time. So if it helps and doesn't offend anyone you can call me King Kong, Joe Bloggs, Tarzan or *expletive removed* for all I care, for I have the decency to offer each and everyone the same right of freedom of speech, their’ right to voice it, whether with a pen name or their’ own name! For in reality that is our given right after all. I, like any one else, doesn't have to read, or respond to posts, especially those they don't like, for whatever reason. So though I personally may not like what is posted, I certainly defend any ones' right to voice it! And above all, I personally am not afraid to engage in any discussion with ANYONE regardless whom or what they may be... or not . Healthy debate is both enjoyable and beneficial, not just to me, but many who look in, or join in! So the name is just that, a name, and ‘Does the Rose smell any sweeter for being called a Rose’! I think not.

I tried for two seasons molly cuddling them... losses were vastly greater, performances poor... so am back to just 3 chucks in any direction of at least 300 miles or more, and then straight into their first race. Saves time wasted efforts and money for better results.

STRIKE by Gem Supplements..what does this cure?
Roland replied to bluebar99's topic in Products & Medication
Can't say I'll ever believe it unless I see man actually walk on the moon.... Seems that hoax overtook the pitdown man! -
Nah... think you will lose the bird toon_barmy... or it won't e there time the matter reached court. If he want's to fly he may converse with you, but may believe - falsely there are ways around it. Unless he has change of heart, 1st 3 days normally, then you will have a uphill wait. But I think 2/3 days day the line he'll try and salvage something and face. I can' understand him being peeved if he actually paid out money... or another deal. Likewise may thing - wrongly - 9/10th of poceccession is the law. He will have to run it over in his mind, and then with a couple of advisers first I believe. I would! Then I'd make the bird available to you. But he must be able to save face, and dignity, and able to voice how he feels. So patients is the merit of the crux I'd wager.

I like mine out every day regardless... Great seeing them pick about the lawn on Xmas day ... wondering how lucky they weren't the dinner lol. Mind Rooks are getting harder to get now so ....
-
I personally believe them to be best honest 'Mongrol' of all time, at any distance. When one talks of strains it is obviously a joke... but breeding is different. Hence they will cross and mix with any other strain of pigeon... because tey are first, lastly and always pigeons. Now 'Blood Wise' they have been arguably the most sucessful strain any where WORLDWIDE!
-
Barry Andrews use to always fly Bussechearts... then changed and his results changed. Now devastating the club and fed with Bussechearts... especially at the distance.
-
I don't they have any decent birds up Scotland... or is it Flyers, one of the two ... or is it both lol

The best honey comes from the Thyme, Lavender, Rosemary, Lime-tree and Orange-tree. The main factor for successful honey productive areas is the variety of habitats able to give the adequate quality of honey. he apiculture is the art of the bee cultivating in order to produce honey. Honey is a fluid saccharine substance with a special flavour. This flavour comes from the nectar of the plants and flowers absorbed by the bee. But the BIRDS / you won’t be interest in that. The quality of the honey itself depends on the type of the plant or flower visited by the bee As a result of the particularities of Greek landscape, the honey comes from a large variety of plants, where a certain flower dominates the rest and so it characterizes that particular variety. Greeks have always been exporting honey. It is a traditional Greek product with many productive areas throughout the country. The best honey in Greece comes from thyme, by far the best honey in the world. Of exceptional quality is the honey coming from flowers and thyme and herbs, flowers and forest originated honey such as sylvan honey, pine tree honey and conifer trees honey. Due to country shape, climate and unique flora, the apiculture in Greece is highly developed with long-lasting tradition, producing in excess all the top varieties of honey. The country's honey is world famous giving Greece one of the top positions in world level concerning the production, export and use of this healthy and natural product. The product itself is blessed by nature. Honey helps maintain a healthy organism. s part of our every day diet it is very healthy for breakfast! For example spread on the bread or mixed with milk or yoghurt. Honey is a source of high energy and as such is perfect for an afternoon energy-boost mixed in spread over a short period before the race day. Beginning the first of April until the end of June, our honeybees _ work many different varieties of flowers. This is the main flowering season for the forest plants and trees. Our honeybees will forage 2-3 miles from their hive to collect a mixture of nectars from tulip poplar, blackberry, basswood, black locust, maple, wild blueberries, and hundreds of other flowers. It is the numerous wildflowers which give our Wildflower Honey its unique and special flavour. This honey is light amber in colour, has a wonderful floral aroma and great as a table honey or in your favourite recipe. But be careful of Toxin poison. There are many great side products of honey. Some concentrated, Whey for instance could be great … slight over use and you could be out for the season. I have honey wax for rubbing into the floors perches etc. Slightly warmed it soon sinks in like a varnish. Water – proofing and killing much unwanted critters that creep about. Also alternate between that as I sometime rub Garden Lime in upon a Damp clothe. This kills much also, has great sweet fresh smelling properties and has a soothing effect upon the birds.

Now I shall sulk and got into my shell... and you will have lost a top flight antagonist! lol

I believe that 'Pen Names are part and partial, and for a very good reaso, many are declined to post. The reason is simple, and it is mostly exactly the same reason most, those that complain most definately near, are because 1. They are frightened that they may be pulled up by a supposedly better, more well known fancier. Likewise those tat complain it is simply becuase they are frightened that the 'Pen Name' may well be of a Well known and respected flyer. 90% of poster post and give and expect a pat on the back, and or agreed with. I personally believe that disagreeing is perfectly acceptable ... being disagreeable is not. But too many are frightened of getting their toes clipped. Too many just wish to suck up... and some of us are just a downright pain in the butt lol.
-
Well with all do respect we ALL know, or should! exactly the task ahead, and / or the task they have just done! A ship if Now a Liner, a boat for instance HAS to take into account the wind and or current meaning it is set for a different cordinate thatn the one it will arrive at! Fact! When we flew to Toronto Canada we were told that DUE to the wind we would actually go up to and come down from Newfoundland. Yes way out and then into a wind more . So t is the SIDE wide that affects tremedously Boats ships Planes trains and double decker buses. Yet are we supposed to believe that a few ounces of bone feathers and muscles aren't affected.... Time some fell out of the bed and woke up. Yes unrealistically fanciers say 'Weer same for every one... they kid us not! Just watch the wild birds combatting the winds. Just watch how our birds change speeds when circlying from ast to nigh stop etc. So please don't try any one to insult my, our intelligence.
-
Yes there are, and has been many tremedous results, that sadly have gone un heralded. Sadly often the best birds in the race hardly get a mention. Be great to see, or hear of any one that moved to a better location on purpose, AND THEN exceled.

No good if they have the night before and act al het up wit st. Vitus dance etc. through the night and wanna sleep when the traps are open.

Bob Cooper was a great ole character, and when he found they had put the wrong name on the Feds ‘Gold Cup’ he laughed and said that that fancier needed all the help he could get. When told that they would erase and put his name on he said ‘What a ruin a good cup … nah everyone knows I won it this year, and when they don’t remember then it won’t matter to them any roads, and certainly not me. His training went around the market town he lived, for folks would tell him if any one was taking a trip… and he’d just turn up and say ‘Morning, heard you was going … yer won’t mind dropping me birds of when you get there…’ and that was his training. Once one folks says to him like that they wouldn’t have room… so he helped them to decide what of their stuff to leave out, and when they protested that would mean another trip tomorrow – implying that it wasn’t suitable to them – he just smiled and said ‘Good… they could do with an extra chuck’! lol Was at a club meeting with him when they started going on about pettiness for yonks as they often do to try and be / feel important…. So no more a door he strikes up a tune on the ole piano in the room, and he starts singing like, so I stands up and joins in… Well one or two were a mite offended, thought it was my voice for starters, but knew that was possible like… so must have been that he’d spoilt they there moment of pious self impotence. When the complained he said, ‘You carry on talking twaddle, spouting silly ole clap trap… when done and you lot wanna git down to sensible things, then we join in, until then I might as well enjoy my ole twaddle on here…. Some man him, sorely missed, and never heard of line traing. But hard and difficult days his was the birfds to beat.!

Bloackjack like the sound of your birds and training. Likewise here.
