Spot on again Merlin. I will, would, and have always helped in any way poss regards helping fanciers and / or fancy. That said, I am at the mo in no position to be of use in this regards... But, as of now, I can assure any and everyone if I am able I will. May well be things alter soon, then I will push my plate upto the ockney no doubt. I travel a 100 odd miles to collect my strays - when reported - andwas able to recently only too please to either A. take a bird to owner, or have released near it's home. But like I say, things constantly seem to change, so ...

Raptor while it's fresh in my memory ... I tink... golly forgot already lol ;D

Also for a good book in the cupboard http://www.pigeoncote.com/vet/formulary/formulary.html#medications is of use. Again, and of course a Vet, common sense, and a practical, reasoning approach is needed. Salmonella and Paratyphoid for instance are often only noticed, and brought to the fore when the birds is ailing, or in a weakened state for any reason. Many carry, and fly well in easy races, and win in the show pen ... Again if a Vet isn't looking for them they can be - apparently missed, and, it appears can't tell from a dropping sample. May be different now as I haven't sent for three years. Had a lot of lofts with it this way over the last 5 years though. ALL were surprised! One good fancier, whos brothers still fly, has packed up again after being clobbered the second time. Bob Flemmings use to nigh always open crops when a bird died for any reason whatsoever... And I feel likewise, any time a bird dies, every so often a autopsy should be taken an advantage of. JMO.

Seems that Salmonella and paratyphoid are the biggest, and untreated for, blight in our sport. I believe that £50 to Libby Harrison for an autopsy is the sensible route to take. Believe that one would be surprised ... I'll chuck in a Tenner (£10) if cash is tight. Would be worth seeing what the actuality is. Gordon Chambers doesn't believe in electrolytes for instance and has valid points! Likewise one only has to look at reality of yogurt to see that there is another myth that has grown with momentum over the years - indeed many swear by it! I often warn about too much protein and Toxin poisoning - a it's real devastating effects, yet many believe that any and all waste will just pass through the system is over use... Indeed I feel that misuse, and mis analyzing the symptoms are another reason of 'Off Colour, or under performing of pigeons http://www.textbookofbacteriology.net/proteintoxins.html is an interesting read I believe.

Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2008 1:56 AM Subject: Winning Magazine Edition #173 Dear authors, It's almost 10 and I have put my youngsters out finally to fly around the loft after 5 hours of waiting to toss them for the 2nd time. The weather is a disaster for the sport. For the 2nd week and the 4th time this year I haven't sent pigeons for a race; last week losses were avarage 50% in Holland. We only can wait for better but many will give up racing old birds soon because lofts are empty or close to that. I 3 weeks yb season starts and I hope something will change this weather. Fine weekend. Steven van Breemen. Think a nigh close down, and later y/b would be a blessing in regards the Rapture problems

Quite a lot... A friend of mine, an ex flyer, saw some cracking pigeons there about 15 months ago. Had words with his daughter who was in the know / knew, and they were held back. Was a case just prior where a fancier had had all his stolen. Yes they were his!

Probably why he asks... has to improve his stock somewhat lol ;D ;D

Can't have 'Strays' on liberation lorries... wide open for cheating and birds getting a head start. Now collected at 'Lib Sites' would be curtail a little, but won't do. ...the RPRA should fund a stray station in all regions and not expect the fanciers to do it out of the goodness of there hearts... never will happen. Besides that again it is just laying down the idea and hoping that the RPRA will pick it up and run with it (Like too many fanciers do). Never going to happen... besides they state, which is part and partial to 'Racing' that it is the OWNERS responcibilty to have strays returned, or an agreement met if different. Their backside is covered. endorse by the fancy and suits... never going to change that!
-
Brilliant Idea ... will never happen ... Never ever got off the ground even times before, but the best of luck.

Funny Subject: Inner peace I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and we all could probably use more calm in our lives. Some doctor on tele this morning said that the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't finished and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of shhhardonay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of vocka, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum scriptins, the rest of the Chesescke an a box a chocolets. Yu haf no idr who *expletive removed* gud I fel. Peas sen dis orn to dem yu fee ar in ned ov inr pece

Well they aren't, as simple as that! Secondarily YES we should be using funds for our CHARITY 100%.
-
I am fortunately not affected here ( BUT will be someday sooner than later I guess), but will do a few Fund - raisers if interest is shown / there.

A trip of a thousand miles takes just one step to start it!!! we can go on forever about hawks and peregrins but i dont think anything will change as these preditors are every where now,and they are growing and growing, its about time the rspb and the government got there fingers out from under there a---s and got something done because until they do we are going to lose members hands over fist, but what else can we do it doesnt matter what r0oot the birds take they are going to be hit somewhere along the line.cheers to everyone on the site and happy racing if you can call it that Well firstly we can stop feeed them ... unless you treat with 'Pour On' Secondarly, not to moan to bady's not interested!!! P.s. they are not interested, a proven fact! And start a fund for Eagle Owls and Clubs to purchase one each! and for Pete's sake get the fancy to wake up and get a PR Firm into place. Simple really... but then many for on stoney ground I guess. Easier to moan and wait for some one else to stop moaning and do something! WE! YES WE! We have to do something for ourselve, not him that has been voted in, they are too busy looking after each other and their muckers to stop feathering their own nests.
-
Seriously, a three tier padle board with a out door motor ... and Roberts your mothers brother! ;D
-
the twin prong of Eagle owls, with the reduction of our free meals, which would have drastic effect on their population, is surely the starting point. Further every day I wonder why oh why don't we have a P.R. Firm... Bet your bottom dollar that the RSPB, THE Goverment and any and every organization that has a point to get across or a view of a decent end result has!!! Just a pound a year, not even half a pint a year... and the flipping fanciers will moan and contrive any and every way but which with any and every feeble excuse not too!!! Time e all stood back and took a blumming good look at ourselves... stop whinging and faced reality. We are classed as no accounts, a pityful cry in the wilderness, and are only interested in buyi ng bigger and better guns to shoot into our bloody foot!!
-
Two things I've advocated - well more with a PR. Firm -- One is, now that we have a climate change somewhat, and better weather in September / october even, Why oh why don't we start racing , and training a lot later! Keep birds in till June even! Never mind the urge, a season or two at least would make a bit of difference. I mean in reality the simple question boils down to 'Do we keep them well fed to raise better and more youngsters, or do we edge the killing of our beloved birds. And just when is a fund, ever going to be set up for THE purchase of eagle owls?! Or are we going to stay in the wishy washy land of 'Never and Apathy'!
-
Agree 100%... but then that will never happen. Golly the members won't even pay a little ole quiddy each for a proffessional mouth pice, Lobbyist and think tank ... Namely a P.R. firm that would put us in good light with Joe Public, and touch the right nerves, not only with the Goverment, but Dafra! the long and the short of it is simple. The RPRA could afford, or levy each member a £1 BUT they daren't because of the groaning and moaning and stupid crap like 'Surely someone some where in the RPRA can do it... (Wait for it) would if they wanted, and loved the sport!' Then the scenarios of WHO could do... and forget that they may run a buisness, let alone not geared up for it!Apathy, not jealousy is stiffling this sport... the wise one see the 'Ego's and self centre' cliches and leave! That's it in a nut shell. The rest hope on a wing and a prayer... Never going to happen.
-
We only have ourselves to blame... Golly we haven't even got the balls to satnd up, let alone be counted! Apathy Merlin is the killer in this sport... not the jealousy, Apathy and the bigots that clamour to and hold ofice just cow pow to their 'Cliche' and easily led sheep. Time they did something else, instead of saying 'What ... fnciers are just jealous... instead of saying like 'Right this week - end, those that can't race meet us up at 10Downing and with placards lets stop the traffic! Daren't suggest 'and nuts to Dafra, we are going full steam ahead'! And if any one thinks that words are ever going to get the better of 'Politiacians' then they have something seriously wrong with them. Only two ythings matter 'Lining their own nests AND the NEXT vote! Yes they all want a 'Band Wagon' to ride, especially when not in office!
