True. Naughty injections - not to be seen - are aside the breast bone... But why? Not to be seen. So I'd say other places maybe apt. I inject myself with insulin - Diabetic - Belly or leg. To take a blood sample Fingers … Or arm. So why I believe the neck is because it is easier to inject between the skins! Which is - or at least was the recommendation. J.M.O.

  3. these as most things get better as new developments take hold. the beauty here is, I believe, that they don't have to home like others tracking devices do. Agree the cost if lost will be an interesting pointer to have much value one can afford etc. I feel a price of a good pigeon NOT bought to pay for could be a good starter / result.
  4. Could be good if not too heavy I'd say. https://www.pigeontrackingsolutions.com/
  5. Well, some, having missed the O.L.R. sales, I'd wager a good place to buy in. You know they could be bought here, left to fly out and not raced till next season. AFTER a round of late bred this Autumn. Make sure you have the rings for them. Next March repaired to a different mate, take one or two rounds and then raced. Would be as good a start as any for a newbie - or a fancier struggling as any! Keep a good record of what paired and results. Then mate out crossed. I'd go for buying the cheapest dozen personally. The contentment, and no stress would abound I'd wager.
  6. I have done, and attended, many March 17th do's. Must admit I've enjoyed every one of then.
  7. Nah... indeed he doesn't like me to be sure at all! There was a time he was going to sort me out big time lol. Still waiting. Mind I certainly wish him a speedy recovery and all the best. Never have had a bad thought for or of him. So get well Danny … may have that scrap yet lol. I've had 3 strokes - mild in regards to others admitted.
  8. A lost voice in the wilderness eh grdkeith lol. Mind I spout knowing by far most will not act or say anything. Some may think a little grdkeith. Fine so the 'DOING' to change won't happen! It's fine to have a 'Comfort zone disliking 'Change'. So if no change, then one accepts it will stay the same! A silent voice is never heard. And those who could, but don't make or allow a change love it... Like 'Hate' they love silence lol. For it means that they accept. Fine accept lol, but don't whinge and moan eh!
  9. Aye, and may I say sadly. However I miss them. I will say this area had very little of much what others parts of the U.K. had / have. Knew of two Percies that stayed in this area once... but had moved on within 3 days or so. Sparrow Hawks a problem or some. Again not for me. As for racing, well when we got fed up with their' unfairness, and liberties, we took own. Asked other clubs to join first off. They refused. However when they saw the betterment for us. Especially in the nationals, they joined up. Many moans and groan's became pasttence quickly. I could fly in four different feds now. Strange that how the feds begged and pampered for us to join them! Yes I have had offers to help... but can't, of course give a future date - even of a day, due to health. But many have invited me to watch the birds being clocked in. Main problem then is the desire to start up... back to where I am now. have had some very good birds offered as stockbirds … to give to young to good causes or newbies to help them along. However, I feel, fear the urge to see how they would race would take hold, and back here.
  10. Now the happy moan brigade will be preparing verbal onslaughts regards Training. Race controllers, Weather, B.O.P etc. etc. Many will sit, yet again, vetting anger and frustrations asking 'When will it all stop. When will it end? By golly! I pay good money and deserve better. Indeed my pigeons deserve to be treated with care. They are entitled too better understandingand looked after! Just what are the governing bodies doing to help... Indeed the federations? Now let's face it, it will be heard - yet again – very often soon! They will ask 'Just what did the Governing Bodies, Federations, National transporters bring in to help the birds and us'? Yes, they take the money! But THEY don't care! They have had months now in the closed season to sort things out. They can't say it is I - or the members interfering! For we have sat quietly by and waited FOR them to make our sport better … For we sat twiddling's of thumbs. Indeed never got of our arses! How's that for openers eh!

  12. Reminds me REDCHEQHEN as often posted some get three Vacs starting n the nest … But the part bout NOT mixing. Carriers and none vaccinated. Not to go into too much details of course... But there was a time, and could well again, when unscrupulous so called fanciers, would treat for Pigeon pox etc. Then send in young birds races... Caused havoc with other birds not vaccinated going down like flies and ruined season.
  13. Thanks easygaun. I agree with that. Otherwise there could be - as in many other sports - where the deserving best is foreshadowed by un - practical rules. If Wales wins, there they deserve triple crown and Grand slam etc. Mind I feel A. they nigh, and should have been beaten by Scotland... A surprise maybe, but Scotland deserved a win there. B. Ireland are nearing the form that made them No1 side not so long ago and could well beat Wales...
  14. Wales Top 4 wins No bonus points 16 points. England second 3 wins 3 bonus points. 15 points Ireland third 3 wins 2 Bonus points 14 points So if Ireland hold Wales close and win, but no bonus points 20 points So if England win and get 1 bonus point equals 20 points. Now usually if tying on points the Score difference takes the higher spot. Which could mean Wales win 45 and not beaten would be second to England who was beaten. Obviously when they brought in the bonus points system they would have considered this!
  15. Some truth in what Wiley and gulkie say. You must really have the nest box twice the size for that pair. With nest bowls so he doesn't - wouldn't need to move on to another. Ideally, both sheltered from the loft and the opening facing each other. So then it would be shielded and the pair can relay another round whilst in the same compartment ( compartment facing each others. No need for the all important 'Pecking and territory' to fight over. Just the one entry between the two. A half house brick or Wooden block aside each of his nest bowls. Just my thoughts of what I would do if I had too.
  16. I, personally, thought Scotland did enough to win! Indeed could and should have. Wales first try should have never stood … . If ref had gone to the T.V. Monitoring it wouldn't have. As the two passes leading to the try were both forward. The first marginally, the second blatantly. Sorry to say I thought the ref had a poor game and favoured Wales. Yes I thought before the games Wales would dominate and over power Scotland … how wrong can one be. On that form Irelnd have more than a very good chance of beating Wales next week!
  17. Simple vaccinate the old pair now! All birds are to be vaccinated yearly any way … most 3 times in first 3 months by very many. Many the old warning of them being carriers after vaccinated and can still infect over birds. I use to say 'Well if you've vaccinated your birds why worry about those who haven't as it won't affect yours's'! Many argue that it can still knock the vaccinated birds for six so to speak!
  18. Well I suppose it must take the RPRA a few seconds to get the numbers up on the Computer. Then 20 seconds or so to put up a and add a few words to send to the Fancier. Now I had a little hassle a few years back transferring SHU rings. Had to go through the SHU in my name. Then then transferred it to the R.P.A. or such.
  19. to be a scot eh! The girl I started spouting about a few years back now. said a Great in the making. Full of the good Scottish Stuff. Proud, full of tenacity and desire to win! Yep Laura Muir! So pleased and was up and shouting at the T.V Screen. Though thought a Double Double was on the cards since last year - didnae I say? Think it could be a triple double or even more. Yes not being carried a way though. there are some other superlatives Athletes to contend with in the future... But one thing I know for sure is 'She will give everything'!
  20. For years we just had the phone number stamped on the wing . Mostly good, unless some one knew your number before reporting or ringing you. But then again it saved time and effort reporting it … OK if they didnae want it etc. will at least be the same … IF not worse. No problems as I see it. J.M.O.

    Pigeon Feed

Brexit will be used in every walk of life to screw a bit more profit! Mind just following the Countries leader there I suppose. Talking of prices, who mentions, demands that the V.A.T. shouldn't be paid on feed as on Live stock it is exempts. Pigeons by DAFRA / Government Laws etc, ARE! regarded as live stock! A 5th! So on £15 bag you can claim back the price of the V.A.T that they have added on.

You know, I often wonder just how clean, and why. Yes!mice droppings could be a detrimental happening Though one may well remember when farm feed was all year round — greatly priced too. I fed over many past years farm feeds. Never had any problems, that's for sure. Indeed as I often spouted my birds' health and condition wise as good as any. Indeed better than most I'd wager. I mean, does it suggest that paying more times over is best for the birds, or for the fanciers' mind of doing what is best for the birds … then pump a load of rubbish via injections / oral and bleat 'I do them proud'. A little truth here, and it certainly entails livestock. Take a leaf from Nature! A house proud mother was a real model wife and mum. Indeed often at the doctor's with an ailment, or thought for best, a reason at the doctors. After a while, when her loving son age seven went again to the doc's, He sat back, sighed and drew on his pipe! 'Mrs B*******I am sorry to say this, but the truth forces me to. For pity sake let the kid play in the dirt, mud and muck! Suck on mud and a snotty sleeve! Otherwise, he will get no immunity at all and will be a weakling always ill! Let him play along with other children and take a backward step' I don't mean stop loving him ..but you aren't doing him any favours smothering him in love. She left a bit distraught. Yes, a bit mad at the doc. However, she had the sense to think about it Contrived to set what he said in a motion. She took a little time, with patience. However, he became a healthy kid. An excellent all-around sportsman and seldom had ills after — a true story. The loft! As long as it's dry. Dropping quickly dry then it is healthy. It also helps the pigeons. Ok, not the proud fancier that is smothering them, holding them back with ill-gotten love!

True Fifer. Best kept behind the teeth.... Besides whatever we post in this regards, most already have an opinion I'd wager. Just doing what they feel is for the best as always.

I think the old Fireball Lennon has it sown up for a return. He did well last time. Vastly more experienced now.
  25. Went to mates garage yesterday. He was draining every drop of fluid from galleon drums into 40 galleon drums. used to be burnt. Now illegal. Neither councils, local or county will take them. Searched high and low for help regards these drums now cluttering up valuable space in yard, where the cars need space. Then saw last nigh on local news that 'Recycling has stayed about the same since 2010. Places like Peterborough have huge cinerator's that burn galore at tremendous heat … You've guessed it, mate doesn't know it yet, but soon ALL will have to go there and be charged now. No wonder the Road side tips are doing so well. Cost 000's to clear away etc. Mate - known for years and had some earlier pigeons off when I started up after moving - run a butchers shop. He also had a slaughtering licence. I used to get my tripe for the dog there in fact. then he told me it had to go to a … where ever! Next thing to happen was that he wasn't allowed to slaughter any more and ALL slaughtering had to be done at certain places. Asking why he was told that he hadn't a license any more. He stated he had, and that troy his son was fully qualified. Indeed he argued Troy had the highest license going! Noy so they stated and closed it down... like every other one nigh! 6 weeks later they asked Troy to take responsibility for the slaughtering centre/// Yes you've guessed it BECAUSE he was the most qualified as could be. As the butchery was going to suffer from extra costs and time consuming acts they closed the shop and he took the job. Dad became a milkman. You couldn't make it up. It all boils down ro making money for the 'Ole Boys'!
