A typical Scot eh! Ay least the English have the good courteously of cheering on Scotland / wales etc. if not involved. Shame on you.

Agree DAI2. Sorry, I was referring to racing youngsters. We often had the shows December first week. Too early even then, with the apprisal of taking note of the moult. Used to be Fed/ March back in the good old sensible days lol.
-
Disagree there. Many in the moult, went and won club and fed firsts. Yes from Berwick 250 miles or More. Elgin, Perth.g As I often Brag I won big with two June born youngsters from Thurso - 479 MILES. One went on as a yearling to win the Scottish averages on it's own merit. that is the three longest races from Scotland. Not Lerwick of course, which is in England. Especially the third feather three quarters down. the moult mean that energy is risen to help the moult. Like a women having a baby etc. My only thought was ' did it damaging to the feathering and growth etc.'. But then that near seemed to be the case. I am all for the 6 races mate IF one must race youngster

Jones has a record of the highest. 2003 Was in charge of Australia in the final when England won. 2007 Next was on coaching side when S. Africa beat England in the final. Like wise 2011 when New Zealand won. 2015. Took Japan the distance nigh... beating S. Africa and bring the best out and to the fore with quick, and exciting Rugby. Speed against the heavier opponents. Japan have a good foundation now … obviously lack size, but … So England's Rugby Board brought him in. Constantly replacing the older players for the younger ones and welding a good squad together. I doubt he will stay after the W/C personally. I feel he will be looking at fresh pastures and challenges. Sadly! Mind to be fair Warren Gatland, after 12 years he transformed the sporadic genius of the national team into a hard-nosed unit of consistent menace. Indeed a very professional outcome.
-
It's fine to have digs and banter, but to try and degrade England's fine and remarkable victory regards beating, and how they beat the 'All Blacks' is and was ridiculous. I, like most, realise just how powerful the 'All Blacks' are and have been since 2007. No need to sing their praises, it's all there to be seen. Scotland lasted reach the Semi final in 1990 I believe. Have has some great teams since. Very good late 90's etc. For Wales it was their first time. Never mind Gatty, Wales being close to England is as near as they may ever be to being a great side lol. By the way, well done Josh Taylor. A fine and good win last Saturday.

You know, my mate Derek and me built a half decent loft age about 10. Ok my dad had a loft etc. We collect pallets all sorts. Begged a bit here an there. Espied and asked for. Wasn't great by any means lol, certainly not by todays standard, or the lofts on the allotments... which it was more like. Later, on moving back to Kettering, I Went to many a demolition sites and had given wood that you just weren't able to get today. Never lost the habit either. Built several since, that's for sure. Most, if not all, had a thought, or more of improvement. the last one is by and large a class above them all. Indeed many of the thoughts and changes of past times have been incorporated. Will have to say, I had great times building them. Yes long times some times lol. The one I have now is brick and tiled... still controlled circle of air, and able to be Open loft, or not. This one being the only one costing a bit like. Now I would wager,Scot1991, that in a week or two there will be several to be had. Maybe you will have to alter, or amend a bit. But fingers crossed, not long now. P.s. good luck for the loft and the future mate.

True, so very true. If a fox/rat, weasel, pine martin etc. got into a loft, the bottom story would be 'So sad and sorry to hear that. Hearts would go out the poor fancier... However, 80% or more of the time it would be the fanciers' fault! I took time and effort to safeguard my loft from vermin. Glass etc. I heard of a safe and inexpensive way to control mice that works. Ray Naklicki read and tried this experiment. Mix 1 equal part flour with one equal part sugar with one equal part baking soda. Place in a container around the loft. Mice will devour the mixture. Once the mice drink water, the baking soda foams up they bloat up and die. Ray says he hasn't seen any mice in weeks. He did see some earlier that were looking either pregnant or ready to explode. It works. First, off I spread it over the floors in barn and wife's Garden plot after I saw signs of droppings and feet track... within no time no more signs of vermin. Glass covering so no rat or mice could climb, or gnaw through. In short, I took care to prepare and protect. So now is the time, eh! Let's face it, and I have no time when a person tells me a fox has been in the chicken run. So what! Tough, he should have made it fox proof: many ways and cheap to do so. One can't blame the fox, because he allowed it by not safeguarding the chickens in the first place. But violence isn't the answer no matter how much the blood boils - Gosh must be getting old.

Posted a couple of ideas, but then cancelled them. Think it might well be a case of more time and efforts involved, and money. Yes I know the rights and wrongs etc. But the boy is to be pitied and as such it makes a case of us being more careful and effective. Sorry, of course this doesn't suit. I know that only too well, but … Sorry!

I think £5. 50 is very reasonable.
-
Was last season £4:50 at the farm I went to. Cookes near Leicester. Tic beans had gone up to £6:50. I bought some wold seed. Fed wheat barley mix, with a little Tic bean. Once a week the wild seed, or if feeling rash a canary seed. Pigeons always look a picture after the moult. Nice weight and firm droppings.

True. But I feel every loft now has so- called 'Stars' bred from birds with wonderful pedigrees. Sadly by far a lot of culls, breeding more and more culls every season. A. they say to combat losses from... B. have better bred culls in my loft. Sadly - I believe- them worst culprits for this is 'Names' having loft fulls of 'No so Goods' breeding. Then sold to the fanciers, wishing to improve his stock with bits of papers. they in turn breed cull to cull and incense breeds. So if a local fancier has a decent season, or even seasons, they can't excape the lull of the so called 'Name'. J.M.O.

Love them. Used to rear when it was lawful … But gave away because they need fur/roughage to survive. Butchers meat scrap no problem. But catching sparrows etc. and culling I found that , not only did I dislike the thought, but couldn't do it. Gave to mate. Many a night, walking in fields at dust, the screech owl would past silently over head or aside. Lovely to see, that's for sure.

Neck well wound in. Insight baffled. Still haven't the foggiest of what you mean or are on about … especially after your last post. Let alone the waffling in regards of 'Winter racing' What winter racing? As for letting them out, by far most keep their birds in over the winter months... through the moult and then together for breeding.... whatever month that may be.
-
Don't know what you mean regards 'Winter Racing'! If it's to say you won't be there in the time can't see how that would be any different in the summer time? As for being there to time in, that was and is been overcome forever. You know, we heard/had these comments and arguments for that matter, for about 50 years as I know off. Before the E.T. was allowed, and then some after. 'Can't release Mondays (some hated Sunday for overtime pay or going to church etc.) As I will be at work'! Because I won't be there to time them in etc. - Won't race the distance races as I won't be there to time in. etc. In fact it was far worse in the 30's to the 50's as most worked Saturday Morning at least … But still raced! Funnily enough it was very few in deed that couldn't get a hand to time in. Most did but still moaned because .. So I put it to you that that scenario won't and doesn't wash. Sorry.

Another glorious day today. Blue sky with gentle breeze. Great for those, if so wishing, - which I stopped doing personally, - to set a few later bred for a little experience eh? I remember reading, in Scotland's Own, Newcome saying. 'Those that didn't shine racing, which was nigh all and I was nigh always bottom of the ladder, went training throughout the winter months come snow or shine or whatever. Come breeding season I only had birds that had proved that they wanted to be here'. He became a house hold name. Yes, today with the B.O.P. problem, it is different no doubt. But gives food for thought eh!

Was going to say the same Fifer lol.

Make it smallish. Two doors as a safety measure Closeness will make them tamer for her. Also - is moving steadily and talking and they will soon eat out the hand. sit on her shoulder. Even take titbits from her mouth. Preach patience and softness of voice, that will be the foundations of later on being a good flyer. I wish her well.

Pleased to hear mate. Would love to have seen the young girls face when getting it. Moments of heaven eh!
-
Same, yet again. Would have been good a great day for a y/b race today. Would all be on perches now back home. Tonight not home would have good weather rest of week. If not high it may be A. B.OI.P. or simply not good enough. Would save one from mating breeding culls next season eh!
-
Have been saying so for many years now Adee1888... many changes, indeed all but one... the so called sport of pigeon lovers.

Another glorious day for all most any thing. Not a cloud in the sky. Cool breeze and warm. Great day for racing I'd wager. Pigeons would be home in most loft now!
