  1. Ya cheeky barsteward mine go way there nails polished lol.
  2. My concern is the the welfare of the pigeons first and foremost whether they are travelling with carboard or shavings as long as they are in as hygienic conditions as possible and free from matted feet or manky tails and flights.
  3. Derek if that was the case then all the pigeons transported in geraldy units to the European International races would have a huge advantage but the actual facts provide a totally different picture.
  4. The thing is are the Germans always right in what there doing?? When the pigeons from all over Europe go to Barcelona they don't all go with german specifications and the prize list is well spread out.
  5. I am very happy that we in Lanarkshire have new transporters which I think is great for us members BUT don't forget that from the old transporters we had many many good races with wicker baskets and shavings as bottoming when the pigeons lay down in the shavings on there long journey to the south of England and France. The point I am trying to make is the pigeons wellfair must come first and for me four days in an aluminium crate with NO BOTTOMING is a NO NO despite the fact that they have air conditioning.
  6. When the Lanarkshire pigeons were returned from carentan approx seven days in the baskets the pigeons were in great nick IMO BUT there was easy bed in the crates.
  7. For me cardboard can only absorb so much moisture and the rest must adhere to the pigeons feet. I have limited experience with geraldy transporters but for me there would need to be some sort of bottoming in the baskets infact I would like to see some sort of heavy duty plastic grills incorporated inside these crates.
  8. And after a holdover do you not have any problems with the pigeons feet being matted with sh**?
  9. Ive had pfl for years and a pp3 mask does the job for me wearing a mask is a must for every pigeonman if you have pfl or not.
  10. Derek can I ask you what kind of bottoming gets used by the Almond valley Geraldy that you race with?
  11. The pigeon was about dead could not move but no sign of hawk attack.
  12. My son found this blue su 12 L 10859 in a field next to the M8 at kirkshaws Coatbridge it was still alive but I had to put it out of its misery.
  13. I think there are too much superfluous products fed to pigeons when rearing and also when racing. I think we can get a bit brainwashed by clever marketing of various products and tend to forget that its the ability within the pigeon which makes it a good one. I know of a gold award winner that was very badly reared full of fret marks and yet it went on to win a gold award with the snfc and was also responsible for plenty pigeons to score at 500mls.
  14. LOL
  15. I think its already sorted ones known as T Cake the other one is Carmel W.
  16. Happens to me every year but to be honest there has been less peregrine activity around me compared to previous years and I hope it stays that way.
  17. But that would not stop him from sitting on the eggs . he wont sit on his eggs.Could it be that his hen from last year is in the same section?/?
  18. I am not sure if hes getting an erection if that's what you mean?? I am beginning to think that it could be a hormone problem.
  19. The first hen he was paired to this year was his first mate as a yearling and reared as normal this year he was tried again with her and she laid four eggs to the *expletive removed* and he never sat on any and they were all blank. So I took the hen away and about ten days later I gave him a NEW hen and once again when she laid he would not sit and these eggs are also blank.
  20. I have kept pigeons for over forty years and this year a good three year old cock has got me baffled. He has been paired up with TWO different hens this year because he will NOT take a turn and sit on the eggs.He is in the same nest box he had for the last two years in which he sat eggs and reared as normal but this year that's six eggs that's been laid to him and there are all empty. Has anybody ever experienced this type of behaviour before its got me beat.
  21. Belgica Deweerdt have a great service give them a phone on 01206842221 they will send you a test kit the cost is £12.00 and will give you a call to let you know the results great service IMO.and very helpful.
  22. I have never heard of it but it looks like its for canker and E. Coli, my advice for what its worth would be to stay clear of it because E coli has so many different strains (serotypes) which need to be looked at properly to find which antibiotic it is sensitive to . E. Coli is a secondary infection which means there must be something else wrong with the bird to let the E coli get in there and do its thing.
  23. Dull and damp with a cold east wind blowing all day here in Lanarkshire. One of those days where your testicles and and knob are tucked up for a heat.
  24. Don't forget they have a sell by date.
  25. At the end of the season while maybe jagging some latebreds I use the remainder of the vaccine on the most important stock birds or racers which are left from the racing season and its usually not to many lol.
