  1. Count me out then. I haven't won a race for some time, but then? I only have a clock set for the nationals. I keep trying though
  2. I have ecconolofts from these people and I have both and very pleased
  3. ;D Thought I was the only one left to pair ;D Still this week end will do me
  4. Sound advice. I would treat on a four weekly cycle cocci kanker and worms. Hammer em down the road. At the end of the season you know you have healthy well tested birds. Only then would I try and see if I can cut the medication. And yes I use very little now but it certainly sorted the wheat from the chaff. Birds in pen now have flown Perth and Palamos.
  5. Don't pull flights they will never grow to full length. About 1/2 to an inch shorter.
  6. Why do we not build our stock lofts with inner doors to stop this. We all do it at some point. You feel such a prat looking at your birds sitting on the house at the end of the road. Best o' luck mate I hope you get one or two back but past experience tells me !!!!!!

    Sprint Pigeons

  8. I would go along with this. Sounds like a serious deficiency to me, calcium grit shell fish grit. The answer is in the confinement at point of lay. Never tried it, but I am told rene tablets for indigestion. Food and water alone is not enough. Many "ailments /diseases" seem to just be a lack of vital vitamins and minerals. Best o' luck Pete.
  9. Sad to hear it mate they look well too.

    H5N1

A little harsh perhaps but probably true
  11. Is it me. Blue combination rings NEXT YEAR pg 6 col 3 this weeks BHW. Iwill have combi rings and when the birds all have them I will buy my ets.
  12. And here is some more sound advise from another good contributer
  13. Mate you give sound advice on a regular bassis
  14. Must have been a lot of work getting them that good with the bad weather well done.
  15. This sounds good but for me cocci worms kanker alternate weeks cider vinegar and honey in the water yogurt on the corn. Treat the lot don't seperate. Works for me. As for changing the food healthy birds can live on almost any thing.
  16. Mate they look a picture as long as they have food and water nature will take care. The young 'un will be out of the nest soon enough. All good advice but really your only concern is where are you gonna keep 'em all. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  17. I wouldn't waste your money, go for the ets. I am gonna stick with my Benzing cc. Had it 10 years new batteries from Sainsbury's every year, and keeps perfect time through first half of the season, then by the end it loses 1 second. Might have to buy ets if I am still working weekends though.
  18. Use every week. Tiz great for working out eta of your birds. Good on ya for putting it up though.
  19. Having been made redundant in October. I've managed to keep working, but this has meant working every weekend, so bizzare as it may seem I might have to buy ets, so I can still race. As a distance man I was quite happy with a Benzing computer clock I've had for 10 years.
  20. 18th April Warwick fed at Swainswick. May will be early enough for me.
  21. I doubt that cat could catch much. Looks too big to move, let alone jump at live prey.
  22. Yes I use it. It aint a matter of finding which one works. Kanker treatments need to be used on a rotational basis.
  23. Bordeaux for me cos this is my favourite distance 515 mile. The sort of distance I think you can reasonably expect a pigeon to fly in a day. Other than that Lamballe young bird.
  24. How long is a peice of string? Kind of think it's more a case of how many you can manage well. The more you can manage the better : Have too many and that's of no use what so ever. Have to agree with budgie though only I'd say over 98% are not up to it. I will breed 40 young 'uns but won't pair till mid March (Split 'em last week.) No darkness here all natural. These will all go out to Lamballe 274 mile and the yearlings I have, will go to Bordeaux 515 mile. I have no 2 year olds after moving house and just 1 cock that I broke that flew Palamos 751 mile to our new loft. How long do you think it took me to find him?

    to much

Cider vinegar will rid thgem of e-coli and keep kanker at bay. I use it twice a week through breeding. I would think this worth a try or looking at worms and cocci.
