  1. Bugger me I better go and kill all my blacks now then, inluding the one that was 2nd section 20th Midland National.
  2. I knew she had this one from near me the breeder raced in my club at the time and the bird was rung with another local clubs ring as he flew in two clubs. When Linda used to come on this site I knew she was sad when the bird died a couple o' years ago. I didn't have birds at the time. I wish I could remember the birds name it was named after a rock band.
  3. I don't train much but mine get a couple o' chucks at 10 mile before first race of 90 mile
  4. Just paired up got no eggs yet so. " what young birds dizzy " for me
  5. So you have late breds. As far as I am concerned these are as good as any may be better. Treat 'em with respect don't train in the cold winter. Don't pair up too early, and don't start them till the end of may as yearlings. If you've not knocked their confidence and kept 'em healthy, I would think they will get you more than a few red cards in june. I have late breds from last year and the year before hear, nothing older to race as we moved house and these will not see a basket till may. I've paired up this week. A week later than would be normal, for me, as I like to pair mid march.
  6. I have pure white and ther gonna do weddings and funerals for me sod the racing ;D
  7. I believe Linda took her birds from here to the states, certainly one of her main stock cocks had a local club ring number.
  8. Kind of do a similar thing here as I put certain line in a section and have nest mates paired together. Gonna leave 'em and see as they are from my Palamos cock.
  9. I didn't have birds at the time but I believe it was the Warwick fed. I hardly clocked a bird last year anyway but I still got a couple o' diplomas from the BBC ;D
  10. So that would be my fed then. Doh :B
  11. So why don't you guys do as I've done and drop out of the Poorly run and over expensive NFC and join the BBC and BICC as I did when racing was cancelled for bird flu. BBC and BICC conducted there affairs with great applomb where as the two clubs I was in MNFC and NFC made a real dogs dinner of it. There is no way I have enough birds to send every race but I can pick and choose as I wish. My small team of 3 cocks I started with still managed to get one from Palamos ;D
  12. No he doesn't race anymore. They are similar to Linda's at red rose lofts and she is a top girl and could help better than anybody I guess.
  13. Yes I have some new modern strains Buschaaerts and Aardens ;D In all seriousness I like to bring in new stock every year. There are few that stay long though.
  14. Like I said. Milton will help with cocci cider vinegar E-coli and kanker add to that a wormer like moxidectin or Ivermectin. Job done. To be fair I will treat with Ronidazole or Spartrix for kanker, Coxoid or Appertex for cocci. Just to start 'em off.
  15. Yes it is ok to use and will remove a small amount of internal parasites but it aint for me I use Milton cider vinegar and honey.
  16. What you say mate is a good theory and I would have agreed. However I used to take my birds to work with me where ever. I'd take 'em as much as 60 mile in any direction, and they cleared without circleing. I used the same method with the babbies and had too many for the national. So my mate took half and I had the other half 50/60 mile toss from two different points single up for the first time ever. Of my 20 the last three birds circled and all the rest cleared immidiately. I never dropped one and they never did get to the national I think it was cancelled for some reason.
  17. I like tough pigeons and would hate to lose the Grandaughters "pets" by pushing too hard. Any advice extremly welcome. Mate like you I race from the distance, but I too have bought some whites. These will have an easy first year but when they reach two they have to go down the road and then some more. By then there will be more whites and when I lose some, there will be more young 'uns coming through.
  18. 'Bout bloody time it's been coming for too long. Nice you got it though was listening on the radio at work
  19. I've been working nights and was sick when the show at the race cours was on. Telford was poor. I got up early and went and thought it was good bought some perches and a coule o' Dutch Delbars. Nice ride out.
  20. And when yours have given up the ghost mine will still be in there for the big races I'll lay in bed a bit longer thanks
  21. Oh how I agree with this. Give me your best sprinters and I will lose most, but I bet I can get some at 500 mile +
  22. My yearlings will start racing in June ready for Bordeaux 1st August
  23. Top posting Jimmy. I may not be in the same class, but my Palamos pigeon last year, had two 10 mile training tosses 6 inland races 120/170 mile and a very tough 250 miler. No need to hammer them down the road if they are working enough at home.
  24. Hmmm a lot of yearlings here so they wont see a basket till mid may and I still aint paired yet but they are gonna go to Bordeaux 515 mile
  25. Got to be pairing up time aint it. Tiz for me. Just watch them young uns grow
