  1. The clock you have just now if it's not broken don't change it. Will Bricon replace all your ETS rings?
  2. .
  3. Surely someone in the SNFC could sort this or are they happy to see the name of the SNFC getting dragged through the mud.

  6. John Leggate asked me to post this video. I believe it happened in Ayrshire.
  7. Can't believe you guys dropped Ypres the most successful race point for Lanarkshire members. If the amalgamation doesn't come off your going to struggle for birdage from Arras as a lot of lanarkshire doos will be at Ypres with the SNFC.
  8. PIGEONS TROUBLE FIRST two races for old birds carried out by Scottish Federations have, in majority of clubs, left a lot to be desired. Federations in the Western group, racing from Penrith May 6, all experienced hard races with velocities well under 880 yards or 30 miles per hour. Federations in the Eastern group, racing from Longtown, were also liberated on May 6. Here again, velocities were low, showing birds had met some obstacle on the line flight home. the East ol Scotland Federation race, J. Ballantyne & Son, Selkirk, top the results with velocity 847 yards. Most fortunate Federation so far Midlothian, flying the East Coast route, whose members hav» had two grand races. Yesterday, races were scheduled to take place from Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, with Midlothian from Darlington.

pecial Train With 4760 Passengers AND ONLY FOUR CAN WALK AND TALK A special train carrying 4760 passengers, only four of whom can walk and talk, will leave Edinburgh to-morrow evening. The other 4756 fly. They are racing pigeons. The train is the Scottish National Flying Club's " pigeon special," carrying the entries for the annual Scottish pigeon " derby." l/nder the care of four convoyers, whose duty it will be to care for and feed them, they will travel to Rennes, France, where, early next Friday, weather permitting, they will be liberated to wing their way to their home lofts. This gear's entry of 4756 is a record— 403 up on last year's'. The pigeons are entered from all over Scotland, from Thurso to Annan. Thurso is 730 miles and Annan 480 miles from Rennes. Weather conditions being favourable the first birds should arrive in their home lofts on the same day as their release.
  10. RACING PIGEONS SHOT DUMFRIESSHIRE FANCIERS' HEAVY LOSSES It is suspected that valuable racing pigeons belonging to a number of fanciers in Annan and Dumfriesshire have been indiscriminately shot. After half a dozen birds had gone amissing, one pigeon belonging to a Bridekirk owner arrived back atr its loft badly injured from gunshot wounds. It is recovering. Mr J. Kirkpatrick, Annan, reports the loss of two pigeons, one a young bird which won last year's Cheltenham race. Mr Halliday, of Bridekirk, ,lost three of his best, and Mr George Jackson, secretary of the Annan Homing Club, two. Mr Wm. Gass, well-known Annan pigeon fancer, told a "Sunday Post" reporter that the casualties had all occurred to lofts in the northern area of the town of Annan. " There is no excuse for ignorance. These birds are easily recognisable. Apart from their own value, many of them are valuable breeders, and are taking part at present in Home Guard exercises."

  12. One draw back could be cheating..A bird drops into your loft from a race 70 mph up the M74 and it could be handed over to the owner still in race time. Not that I for a minute think a pigeon man would do such a thing. While I am on about ETS if someone has two base stations could he move one base station to a friends loft and time in?
  13. I used to let my young birds out and two lofts across the road had some big batches out could count on one hand how many times my birds went in there loft or there birds never went in mine. Great training if they join another batch and then have to break out the batch and head for home. Pigeons have more intelligence than you think!! Clashing in my opinion is a myth but guess plenty will have a different opinion.
  14. I dont have any young birds but when i did i never let any out on a Saturday.
  15. Can you see what's up ahead when they are going up and down the valley? They don't overshoot coming from 500 miles!!
  16. Birds on route heading home and turning and joining another batch for me doesn't happen in my opinion. Once they are in race mode nothing will stop them unless its a bird of prey which could turn or divert a batch. I think liberating pigeons and another liberation in the same area before the birds get a line for home may mean they join in with each other.
