  1. just seen your post above, you're right there. The hen I have wont let me near the nest bowl at all, and growls at me if I as much as look at her
  2. Are the cooremans a bit dominering?? Cant get them to take whole peanuts but I break them in half and they take them readily, can get them eating their corn mix a grain at a time between my fingers though
  3. Heinz 57, mix of Jos Thone, Vandenheede and Cooreman
  4. lol. I'll try to remember that one
  5. Not sure if it does them any good or not but I give mine Garlic powder which is for horses, comes in a 500grm tub and is cheap as chips. I mix the powder in with their corn moistened either with cod liver oil or lemon juice. Took them a while to get used to it but when they get it added now they readily eat the corn
  6. Have you paired Tournier x Tournier or paired to something else? I have a couple of Kirkpatricks and some Aarden squeakers which I hope to combine together with them into something decent given time.
  7. Thought so, remember you saying before that a lot of Tourniers have feathered legs. The others have some feathering but nowhere near as much as the last one
  8. Thank you Gangster, hope so too. Probably not going to race this year but they will be trained regularly upto about 80miles and hopefully get into racing next year, providing I have some of them left lol
  9. First one is a Kirkpatrick. The others are Tournier from the Natural Breeding station Certainly brighten the place up a bit
  10. Teasing a few of my ybs.
  11. Thank you for replies all, how much should I be giving them if ounce a day is not enough. Think I am perhaps being a bit to cautious on feeding. Had yb sickness symptoms in a couple of my older ybs and was told to cut right back on feeding to an ounce a day for ybs. Will try the idea of feeding them a little before I let them out
  12. Hi all, Have been letting my ybs out for about a month now, all they do is fly for a couple of minutes then up on the house and just flying across the roof etc. They get a teaspoon of redband for every 2 birds early am. They get verselaga junior UK mixed with barley of an evening 70%junior, 30%barley, given an ounce per bird. They trap quick enough, perhaps I'm just impatient and they need more time before they start flying properly??
  13. Thought it prob would be. Have told him he should seek a refund or partial refund from the place he got the bird from
  14. He's a bit annoyed about it as you can imagine having only just started up and bought his first batch of ybs. He was going to race the ybs he has just bought. Would the bird be ok for racing or to taxing for him?
  15. Hi all Does a grey film over the eye = blindness or infection of some sort? My mate bought some ybs and on checking them over one of the ybs has a grey flm over 1 eye. He eats fine and looks healthy enough but if he is facing you with the dodgy eye and you move your hand towards him the bird doesnt move or react in anyway. Whereas he does when facing you with the good eye.
  16. Glad I didnt decide to put my hand in my pocket now
  17. Hi all, Saw some nice looking ebony aardens on Louella webcam yesterday, just wondering if anyone keeps these pigeons and are they successful at distance or more shorter distance? Incidentally they were on Louella site for £150 for 6 no pedigree or £360 for 6 with pedigree.... expensive pieces of paper lol
  18. Parents are dark x grizzle. If you open the flights out there is a lot of grizzling underneath, hope it develops more grizzle after the moult
  19. Dark (Grizzle?) from pair of Jos Thones Same bird + nestmate (went a bit short of food in the nest lol) Cooreman x Vandenheede Mixed batch of ybs Its been a hard day...
  20. Thats only about 40ish miles from me, might well go and have a look (armed with camera). My other half & kids will enjoy a day in Folkestone i'm sure
  21. Quick update... I now have 2 birds displaying these syptoms. Have been putting cider vinegar in water and mixing live yoghurt on the seeds also sprinkling on cinnamon. Have also syringed a bit of the yoghurt down their beak. Droppings are not wattery but just a gooey mess now. The first bird has not improved at all. Second one who vomitted Monday evening looks much better than yesterday. I have withheld any food for 24hrs and will offer a light feed tonight. All my others look ok and have kept my new purchases in a seperate section just incase
  22. Mine arrived all ok, about 4:45. Got the ring tickets and strain cards with them. Just wondering what I need do about registering them to me incase they go awol??
  23. Yes, waiting on a delivery. Just got hold of courier, am last drop on their list but they do have them onboard
  24. Not white comines, is there something I should know? PM if best. Cheers
