  1. Mornings they get a small amount of aniseed smelling tonic mix, evening 70% Beans, Maples & Tares mix 30% Barley
  2. Hi all, I have noticed that my young birds occasionally have watery droppings, these are either clear or clear with a white centre. This is usually for a couple of hours before and a couple of hours after feeding time. The rest of the day their droppings are nice and dry and more or less roll of the perches. I have checked inside their beaks and none of them show any signs of canker. They are all flying ok around the loft and are beating me back from 6-8mile training drops Is this anything to be concerned about or am I right in thinking it is just because their crop is empty and after feeding it takes a couple of hours for the corn to start working through?
  3. I've not had a great deal of luck in the past at breaking birds out but they werent nesting at the time. Will give it some more thought.
  4. Hi oldyellow, The only other available nest I have is of some 2 day old youngsters and putting this 5 day old chick in would lessen their chances I guess. At the moment I dont have a problem as I still have the hen from this single chick pair but I wanted to try and break her to my loft, one of my clubmates said best time to try would be when she is on a small youngster, shes had 1 round in the loft already. I was just wanting to know if she didnt come back if the cock would look after the youngster. Perhaps I would be best to wait till she lays again and set her on dummy eggs and then try breaking her
  5. Hi all Would a cock continue rearing a single youngsters from around 5 days old to weaning if the hen wasnt present or would this be doomed to failure? Cheers
  6. Hi all Just noticed one of my youngbirds has eaten a crop load of fabry block, will this just come through him naturally or have I a problem?
  7. Cheers, was looking at one on eBay but by the time you add in the service + battery it isnt that much of a bargain
  8. Hi all Is a battery for a T3 a special size or is it a standard shop size? If special any idea how much one would cost & how much for service of the clock roughly? Cheers
  9. This is Cooper, the photo was taken last year when he was a pup. He's not a working dog, lazy dog more like lol
  10. Cheers lads. I do like the look of the darkuns, hopefully they will form the base of a distance family for me over the years
  11. Morning all, Please can you have a look at the pictures below which are of 2 pigeons I acquired this morning. As a total layman to eyesigns I am interested to know if anything can be told at all, quality or otherwise from their eye signs. Apologies if the pictures are not upto much. Pigeon 1 Pigeon 2

  15. Hi all, Just been looking on the net for some info on Marsden Flints, was on Warren Fosters site, unless I am looking at it wrongly it looks like he is now asking £150 for a single squeaker and £275 for 2 squeakers same price for any of his strains. See below I am not saying they are not worth the money but at that price I would be to afraid to let them out lol
  16. I hope so, The Kenyons are flying a good 15-20minutes each night now and seem to be flying very high. The other 2 are a bit younger and content to flit round the roof tops. I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with one of the Kenyons holding corn but emptied his crop out with bi-carb and water, kept him hungry for a couple of days and have been building him back up with depurative and on advice I have picked up I have given Acidophilus capsules and now I add lemon juice to the corn, cider vinegar & vanodine to the water. He is also flying for 15-10min each night and seems to be over it now. None of the others showed the problem but as a precaution I also gave them an Acidophilus capsule at the time.
  17. Hi oldyellow, First 4 are from my Crowder / Ishmael Kenyons. Will be seperating my second round of them tomorrow. The last pic is a couple of birds from Des Coulter.
  18. Hi all, Pictures of some of my youngsters, just been out for their fly & had their grub
  19. I check mine with an LED candler after 3 full days of incubation and you can see a small red dot and some veins forming if fertile
  20. Apparently 1 Imperial tablespoon = 17.7581714 millilitres
  21. Hi all, Does anyone here make up the Golden boost mix, and have you found it of any assistance?
  22. Hi Peter I See where you are coming from with all the points above and they do make a great deal of sense to me I did think that the later bred youngsters would not be so far into the moult and could take the place of the earlier ones that were moulting, so no need for the darkness really. I've a lot to learn with regards to distance flying and dont expect it to be easy, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun though
  23. Hi mamun, Yes, have had a look at the instructions now, hopefully some better quality pics to come Hi Peter, Hope so, all being well. I have 3prs of stock kenyons, they are down on second round of eggs now
  24. Hi all, I am interested to hear how people train their young birds for long distance racing. I am hoping to join the BICC next year and take part in a couple of the shorter chanel races with my yearlings and hopefully build up a team of distance based birds to compete in the longer BICC races over the next few years. What I would like to know is if it is neccessary to club race my young birds for their experience or if I should just train them regularly. I am not on darkness and would be entering natural youngsters which I have been told wont stand a chance against darkness youngsters. I am not worried in the slightest if they would compete for top positions or not, it would simply be a training process for them. However, I have been also been advised though that club/corridor racing would not really be of a great deal of benefit to them and I should train regularly and in any direction upto 20miles as young birds and then straight into some of the shorter chanel races next season. Thank you for reading
