She is an 09 bird
-
Hi all, My 3prs all laid their first round eggs within a couple of days of eachother, all youngsters reared ok and have been away from the parents a little over a week now. 2 of the 3 pairs have laid their second round last weekend but my third hen hasnt laid, she has built a nest and her droppings are getting larger, she spends most of the day sat on her bowl but no egg. Is this anything I should be worried about or is she just taking her time? She looks fine, not moulting and is active enough when she is off the bowl

Interesting dodgy trapper

Hi all Are there any Kent or Sussex fanciers on here who know where I would be able to get tic beans. I have done various farm and granary searches on Google but not getting very far. I can get them from my local corn merchants but not straight, they offer Countrywide number 2 I think, which is a mix of beans, maples & tares and is pushing on £13 for 20kg Cheers

I bought him as a logan but I dont think he is, he is a very big powerful bird and have been told logans are more slim-line.

The Kenyons look good, I've 6 Kenyon squeakers myself in nests at the mo, they all look like peas in a pod

Hi all, I have 3prs with squeakers between 15 & 18 days old. They have not attempted to leave the nest yet. When will my hens look to go back to nest and should I provide another bowl? I have noticed the hens droppings have started getting larger again which I take to mean they are not to far off laying, but I have not heard the cocks calling to nest at all?

Latest time for young birds
pigeonman007 replied to pigeonman007's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Would that be hatching May? Just wandering if I buy a pair of birds now if I will be able to take a round from them for races this yr? -
Hi all What would be the latest time I could take a nest and be able to use the ybs for racing this season?
-
Hi all I'll not be able to get to the corn merchants for a few days so have sieved out all the small seeds from some of the vanrobaeys mix which just leaves the peas & maples. I will get them on this tomorrow and see if they get back to normal
-
Yup, bit annoyed with this vanrobaeys mix, it was £13.50 for a 25kg sack and as I say about 20%barley, yet it was sold by the corn merchant as the equivalent to verse laga breed and wean

Hi all My 3 pairs of stock birds all have squeakers in the nest aged between 8 & 11 days. I have noticed over the last couple of days the droppings of parents and squeakers have changed and are now very loose and brown coloured. Previously to this they were solid and a dark colour with a bit of white. The squeakers all seem to be developing well. I would say the droppings of the squeakers are a bit more watery than the parents. I have been told the problem may be a lack of salt and the parents may be drinking to much water possibly. I have given some salt this afternoon and this has been readily taken. In terms of water I would say each pair is drinking about 150ml per day roughly. I am feeding vanrobaeys junior gt which I dont actually like and the birds dont seem that keen either. It has a high % of barley and quite a few other small seeds. The breed and wean I used last year was majority maples & safflower, they seemed to prefer that much more but my supplier was out of stock. I will keep an eye over the next few days and maybe the salt will do the trick??

Typical, I dont get the bhw, anychance someone who has a copy could pm me the ad details and his cotact info. I was hoping to try a few of his ybs :)
