  6. Our partnership is Mr & Mrs, I help with anything that needs done round the loft, I do all the driving for the training as well, that way Jim gets to stay at the loft and see them in. My own hobby of showing dogs takes a bit of a back seat during the racing season.
  7. If you have nothing on this Saturday go and have a look at the labrador show thats on. *OCTOBER OPEN SHOW* Tarbrax Village Hall, Crosswood Terrace, Tarbrax, West Calder, West Lothian, EH55 8XE Saturday 22nd October 2011 Show Opens: 9.30am & Judging Commences: 10.00am Visit the clubs website for loads more info Labrador Club of Scotland
  8. Cat was a first time visitor, never seen it before and probably won't again it got a wee bit of a fright when dogs got through to the pigeons garden.
  9. Done, unfortunately a cat got there first. She likes to watch over the loft from a tree in a neighbors garden so we can watch for her again.
  10. Pigeons had been out for a bath and were resting on top of the loft, sparrowhawk lifted a pigeon off the loft and took it into the neighbors garden, pigeon died. When it was chased it came back across the loft taking another pigeon over the wall into another garden, this one escaped. It then came back and took one over the back of the loft into another garden again the pigeon escaped. 20 mins later while I was standing at the front of the loft she came back for another that thankfully dropped into the trap just as she passed over, I can still feel her flight feathers brushing the top of my head. Took us over 5 hours to get all the birds back in the loft and we thought the 17 year old hen had been taken but she came in just as the sun went down. Left with a lot of frightened pigeons but only one dead thankfully.
  11. Contact the Scottish Kennel Club and they will give you dates of open and championship shows in Scotland 0131 665 3920. Have a read at the KC standard for showing see how you think your dog compares to it. Labrador Breed Standard Have a good day at Ingleston, GDBAS is a great show to see a good selection of the breeds and usually loads of Labradors.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Finder going to contact a local fancier for help.
  13. SHU 2010 1903, does anyone recognize this as a Scottish Homing Union ring? just had it reported to us from Shippensburg Pennsylvania USA
  14. Pigeon GB X 11 02440 was reported to us this morning, I have copied the email to strays@rpra.org, below is part of the message from the finder who lives in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, just to make anyone who may live in or near the area aware there is a problem with someone shooting birds. "I keep fan tailed doves which someone has been shooting with a vermin control air rifle. This racing pidgeon was also shot. The police have been informed but without evidence of the culprit have not been able to take further action. There as a futher yellow band on the bird ith the number 6028"
  15. Heading to my daughters in Liverpool on Wednesday 28th September returning Monday 3rd October, will be travelling from Ayrshire to Glagow, Dumfries, Lancashire, Warrington then Liverpool collecting and dropping off some pigeons on the way. Can bring travel box if needed, will also have large pannier for any that have to stay over and need food and water. If you need any collected feel free to ask. Returning same route Can only do if pigeons can be brought out to the main motorway for collection / drop off.
  16. Ring registered to Clyde Coast Homing Society, I'll email the secretary and let them know.
  17. I had similar one reported yesterday, registered with the Northern Counties Flying Tumbler & Tippler Society. The finder was unable to get an answer at the telephone number 01472 751928 so a local fancier has taken the pigeon in. I tried a search on the net but the number you find there belongs to the fax machine of a company.
  18. Glad the pigeon arrived safe and well Getting to meet quite lot of fanciers outside of Ayrshire through these wee trips, was nice meeting you Daisymay, thanks for helping out much appreciated .
  19. Thanks for that.
  20. Been in touch with NEHU but contact telephone number not attainable. Any one know new number for H MIDDLEMAS, MARSKE BY SEA?
  21. I know it's only a very small part of the missing yb's but we get a lot of emails and phone calls (up to 200 + a week during the racing season) from the general public informing us of found pigeons, but they don't want to report them due to the unsubstantiated belief that fanciers dispose of birds that don't fly home. Others inform us of found dead birds but don't take ring numbers.

    Latebred Sales

All thanks to fed secretary Jim Savage. Lot of time and effort put in to building the site and keeping it up to date throughout the racing season. Nice to know that it's appreciated by both Ayrshire Federation members and visitors alike

  24. Jim the secretary is not on PB's so can I just say thank you to everyone who attended the sale and visited the website, whether you bought a pigeon or not your support was appreciated and only added to the great atmosphere on the day. We have started a "to do" list on ways to improve it for next year already Huge Thanks to those who donated pigeons for the sale, from local fanciers and those the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland it would have been a very poor show without your generous donations. Look forward to announcing next years sale on Pigeon Basics LOL The wife ps Fifer thanks for you help putting the notice on PB's for the sale.
