Nothing more than you can read on the internet (just visited pigeon-lung.co.uk) but it was easier to actually speak to someone face to face and of course the fanciers who were there and have had to give up keeping pigeons. I never liked wearing the masks, but totally changed my opinion now, I'll persevere it's usually only for short periods of time while in the loft anyway. If it's against any kind of show rule to show under family members or breeder of pigeon can't the award be withdrawn and other pigeons placed in the class moved up in there placings?

This is the first pigeon show other than local club shows I have been to since Dam Park in Ayr in the early 1980's. Great venue, good food and some very nice pigeons. 1st show for SHU and good job done, next time it will be better because even societies learn from mistakes or "should have done, could have done" comments. Met a few PB members mostly asking where the members were meeting as I didn't know I pointed them all to the bar I was surprised to find out exhibitors couldn't leave before 4pm but after it was discovered a pigeon was missing from the pens I can understand why. Hope the guy has had a call this morning from whoever took it in error. We don't get to exit Crufts before 4pm but we have to queue for an hour or more sometimes to get out the car park, so you weren't to bad. Spoke to a few fanciers who have had to give up pigeons due to pigeon lung, so it was great seeing the research team there talking to folk and doing tests. I certainly learned somethings I didn't know from talking to the team. Would be great to be there again next year ps enjoyed my walk round the pens, some very nice pigeons and I got the chance to handle some as well. Thanks.

Couldn't give my friend into trouble for taking the photo's I was just grateful she could. She gets sick at the sight of blood and faints so I thanked her and asked if it was ok to post them. There was a circle of people of varying ages all standing taking photos with there mobiles and watching for a while then she said they wandered off. She went to her office and had a work mate remove the pigeons remains but no one checked for a ring. So we will never know if it was feral or a homing pigeon not that it matters. The picture shows that our pigeons are prey in both the skies over towns and the open fields.

This is a series of 6 photographs taken by a friend of mine on a main road in Kendal, August 2012. Can't believe people actually stood by and watched the Peregrine catch, pluck and eat the pigeon while it was still living. Would people have stepped in if it was a dog with a cat or a dog with a puppy? probably

Pigeon did indeed travel with youngsters coming over for the Ayrshire Fed sale. Fortunate to have friends and other pigeon fanciers happy to help

What a fantastic turnout at Ayrshire Federation's sale yesterday. Was great to meet some Pigeon basics members face to face. Hope you all enjoyed your day and went away with something that will compliment what you have in your loft or maybe your going to try some new lines. Good luck with all your future plans for your pigeons. Now got to try and get back to working normal daylight hours, the two weeks here before the sale are a bit hectic with arranging collection of pigeons, keeping the website latebred page updated and producing the catalogue and still producing fed race results, lol poor Jim is ready for a holiday I think. Looking forward to the SHU show in December then into the new season again, the year seems to have flown past.
