  1. Lol well done Ally, its about time for him to put them by for the year maybe, from that neck of the woods anyway. Hope the lad does well with them in future years!
  2. Meant to say i only give mine to obs, ybs will only get a few broken up between them if theres any left after obs finish racing. Even then it would only be for last couple of races.
  3. Just struggling away m8, which i will do the rest of autum then winter. Then when spring comes i hope to be ready lol.
  4. Yes would deffo be hard place to fly into.
  5. At night time only after main feed. Usually after 250ml stage.
  6. Cant pm at the moment Andrew. 01592-654589. 07516027169
  7. Not crap pedro, you make a good point its food for thought m8!
  8. Birds seem to benifit with plenty fresh air which cost nothing. An avairy on a loft is usually a bonus and has several uses. Hope it all works out for you.
  9. Six good shows there i hope you get plenty of support. Good luck!
  10. Sorry unable to recieve pms at the moment.
  11. Ahahah mind u to be honest av failed the test a few times. Ive bn told i was holding it wrong!!! :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: practice makes perfect!
  12. Failing the above method just hold the pigeon towards yourself and the thread and little bit lead at the ready. Slowly lift the thread/ lead from above the pigeons neck behind the head maybe 5/6 inches. Then after a few secs it will either go in a straight line diagonally or in a circular motion. Mind now no heavy breathing over the pigeon lol or youll fail the test and have to start again as the thread or string will go everywhere lol. Hence the reason for trying it indoors or in the shed away from any breeze. Heavy breathing, killing masel laughing typing this out, but not a wind up lol!!!
  13. I would more or less do it as John Quinn says if u feel the need to find out what sex they are. Do it inside ur shed or inside the house when the better halfs out. You dont need to hold the pigeon just tie the thread around a cain or length of wire and hang it directly above the pigeon in the box. I say try it in the house or in the shed only to stop a breeze maybe blowing the thread all over the place.
  14. Im sorry to hear Leslie was forced out the sport, i never knew that but i know he was a Gent and a good fancier. Sad when those things happen.
  15. Thanks guys its getting a bit cleaer now. Yup Matt white snr flew as White & Dickson im sure and also won Rennes as u say also 3rd & 9th. This is where i think ive remembered it wrongly. I think the White & Dickson champion was known as Scotch King. Possibly the pigeon was a Grizzle, tho i stand corrected. Think i mistook the above pigeon for Henry Mairs Lionheart on an earlier post above. Never mind tho this is all very interesting stuff from the past and just love reading about the old fanciers and their exploits! Another thing the West boys couldnt half race the doos in those days!
  16. Full time 0-0 ah well at least utd got a point.
  17. We all know Matt White won Rennes but was it he or his father that raced the Barcelona pigeon Scotch King ?
  18. Very interesting read Roly well done.
  19. Reason i ask Novice is that Leslie lived in Greenock and i'm sure either his father or g father had doos. I think the mr Davidson you refer to was from Galston in Ayrshire, just wonder if there was a connection if any.
  20. Novice do u know if Mr WG Davidson was any relation to the late Leslie Davidson (obsever) who was a scribe for many years with the bhw. Leslie also had Dr Andersons birds at one time along with John and William McCalpine(spelling) also i think some birds from Matt White of Paisly and also previously from Matts Father. I have all this info somewhere but someone on here will deffo know im sure.
  21. Ok m8 i see, thanks for that. So the pigeon was not 1st and his best place was 3rd. I had it in my head he was first bird home but never mind. If only i had done a wee bit research, which i have not. Thats the good thing about basics theres usually someone that will do a little research, and thats a good thing. Always hard to argue with facts and every days a learning curve, for me anyway lol.
  22. Followed Man utd since i was about 4/5 yo lol, but yo be honest tonight i think theyll find it hard. Hate to say it but a 2-1 win for Liverpool.
  23. I'm sure Henry Mairs pigeon Lionheart was something like 1st 3rd & 9th into Scotland and every time it was Palamos. If thats not correct no doubt someone will correct me. A brave pigeon tho no doubt!
