Dave barrie replied to chris1984's topic in Racing Pigeons
hi, blue chequer pied on here, send a pm mate. -
you cant argue or win against the rspb so put the y/birds back a month and you,ll get better racing, and cem, buy a shotgun and when you let a rocket off let go and nobody will know,
-
i think our unions should get a grip, we are getting no direction from them, we shouldnt be racing y/birds when the hawk is feeding and training, how long before they catch on, the seasons have changed, we could be racing later? or do they like the higher turnover of rings for more money?

What Can Be Done To Move The Sport Forward?
Dave barrie replied to kingziemckay's topic in Notice Board
well the way i see it is there is no farming backround or anything to do with anomals apart from dog or cat and the kids cant be bothered with them so unless its a childhood hobby that you went back to like me when youve stopped travelling the globe then the youngsters of today arnt interested,my lad lee was very keen since 9yr old and condition and trained a good doo to win back in the day but is taen with the featherless variety now so hasnt the time or the energy any more, i dont get any young lads asking about doos, theyre not interested, and when i did and the dad came asking it was oh its too dear ill stick with the xbox games for the lad, if the sport wants to move then it has to be ,free racing up to 16 yr olds, free mebership to shu and national to that age, encouragement by members which will happen, the sport is far too expensive at the minute, unions could reduce fees which are too dear for what we get back from them ,feds want to get a grip and when transporten another fed the dont want to be cherging double rate,i personally think we could be running a north of scotland combine with one transporter and that would be cheaper and attract more people and then we could get bookies involved j.m.o. -
done, isnt that the uni with the peregrine webcam on the ledge?

Disappointed With The J Murphy Column
Dave barrie replied to lanarkshire lad's topic in Notice Board
too many in a crate over 100 ml sore swollen eyes ,pecked heads, bullys at the drinker, crates wiyh three sides to chose to drink / feed etc is good but surely come the longer races the birdage drops per crate and if not then fed should work birdage per crate because on long haul then less is definately best and preferably on shavings. -

ive never seen a wicker basket with enough water holes for the amount of birds in ever, geraldy is the best with full front and two sides for water and feed imo. -

Anibiotics. Via A Medical Program
Dave barrie replied to ghostrider's topic in Products & Medication
i have had a fish tank for years and top it up with tap water and they thrive on it , tropical that is, now my y/b on weaning goes into the y/bird loft and i dont scrape for the season apartr from the perches, not on deep litter but on grids, never had a problem with sickness and dont treat for anything,if a youngster isnt thriving its done away with sharp.thwe only thing i watch is newcomers to the dookit and they are held in a box till acclimatized to the otgher birds before released and after a week if they look iffy they are away as well, i dont beleive all the crap about bottles of this and that, if the bird has the contstusion itll thrive and do well, thwe only additive i putin to the feed once a week is mollasses and they do well on it, full o vitamens, a tip i got from wilson noble fae the broch who i beleive is still the record holder for the longest distance doo into scotland, i also think every doo is a homer therefore i only feed straight corn like beans, wheat, barley, maize, corn so they will if lost will recognize and eat off the fields, getting back to the thread, imo dont dose, do away, only my opinion mind, my finger is bust so ime off.
