What has this got to do with pigeons ? If you want to talk football there are numerous sites dedicated to discussing football matters.
-
Seem like a great idea, whether the 2 national can come together on this I’m not sure but surely it worth a go. Will be difficult due to COVID restrictions to have meetings etc and probably to late for this year but at least start discussions and u never know maybe next year.
-
Don’t know if I’ve missed something here, but I haven’t received anything from SNFC regarding proposals etc.
-
try Omni’s Vaccine Queue Calculator is available to give you an approximate estimate of how long it will be before your number comes up.

Proposal for Sections was all lofts North of M8 would form a new North Section, all lofts West of M74 would form the West Section all remaining lofts would form the Centre Section. John Lawrie is the new President and Andy Eadie is Vice President.
-
I personally don’t have any issues with this, doesn’t bother me one way or another, I’m back to flying in the section I was in for 20 odd years before joining Airdrie.
-
I am now flying in the centre section while the rest of my club ( Airdrie ) are in the North Section.

Walter Don’t know where the Peregrines are but According to the RSPB website they don’t migrate. “ In the British Isles peregrines do not migrate, and the majority stay within 100 km of their birthplace, although some upland birds move to lower ground or the coast in winter. While the British and Irish populations mix, there is practically no exchange with continental birds. Some of the migratory Scandinavian birds winter in Britain “ Could it be because they are no big batches of pigeons coming up the valleys They are having to range further afield in search of food and leaving a clear corridor for your birds ?

Well done Jim, that put that story to bed once and for all ðŸ‘

Tam, don’t see anything wrong with transporting birds in as long as the rules are adhered to, this is not a new thing it has happened for years. Out of the 7 Airdrie members who sent birds 2 had stated they would not be sending if they had to mark at another club.
-
Tam, 7 members from Airdrie marked 65 pigeon that were transported In 3 sealed crates to Uddingston Club hut, they were accompanied by the required 4 members. This was done only after consultation with the Fed. Secretary and the ok given for this to happen.

Don’t know the answer but in my opinion a ban on young bird racing would not have the slightest effect on the peregrine population. In 2 weeks time racing will be finished for the year and for the next 6 months no pigeons racing to feed the peregrine, will they starve ?, don’t think so. The best we can hope for is a severe winter and a cold and wet peregrine breeding season to limit number of young successfully reared. In years to come the problem will only get worse unless I.e. maybe the birds of prey lose their protected status which I doubt will happen, as it stands i honestly can’t see anything the pigeon fancy tries making a significant dent in the problem .

John woke up this morning and your topic was the first thing that came into my head, agreed that young bird losses can’t be sustain but even if young bird racing was banned I am quite sure pigeon fanciers being pigeon fanciers ( and feds being feds ) would then find a way to extend the old bird season to make up for the loss of the young bird races ( not to mention loss of revenue for feds etc. ) therefore we would only end up feeding the peregrine more old birds. Don’t know if it’s to early in the morning for me but just a thought.
-
I personally don’t race young birds and haven’t done for a long number of years, young bird losses is not a new thing we have had disasters as long as I can remember albeit is getting worse, but in saying that I don’t think stopping young bird racing would make the slightest bit of difference to the peregrine population as they are predators and will eat anything to survive.
-
John all depends what forecast you go by, check my post on your Facebook page and forecast for Saturday morning at Hexham 14/17 mph wind and this is from Met. Office, same as you John no axe to grind as I haven’t raced a bird all year due to Covid but surely birds must be at race point if any chance of a race.

Brilliant, that’s the way it should be, well done.ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

I posted on the Friday afternoon about the excessive heat the length of England and I said they would get a sticky race with very few home on the shift and I stand by that, also a lot of people are forgetting there was about an hour and a half less daylight , some of the early second morning birds would normally have made it home on the night if the race had been on its usual date jmo.
-
Looking at the forecast through England temperature reaching 33 degrees, hope I’m wrong but I think the heat will turn it into a very sticky race with very few pigeons home on the shift.
-
Ive got aloft full reds and mealies, I’ve had 10 training tosses with 35 young birds, been hit once with Percy, they eventually all made it home, one with only one tail feather and one with all it secondaries ripped out of one wing, both were dark Chequers , makes you think.
-
Law of averages Colin, if 5000 birds in a race and Only 250 are reds then 20 to 1 chance the winner will be a blue colored pigeon, even less chance of a grizzle winning, back in the old days there were a lot more reds raced hence more red/mealy national winners.
