100: right Robert I bought 4 direct never got a single bird to 100 Mls had direct from David fox and had a few winners in the club but nothing from the distance lovely looking birds and will fly all day for fun at the loft but that's where it stoped for me

The only time I had that was when I got a 3 year old cock from a friend tried to pair him to about 8 different hens with no luck even tried to get a match with the hen he was paired to in his own loft eventually gave up he was down on eggs within 8 days back in his own loft some just don't like the upset

This seams to be another thing worth exploring at least wee are getting some decent publicity but the knockers could easily twist it

I think there is a huge difference between feeding a bird that is meant for the food chain and racing pigeons it's common fact that stuff on the supermarket shelf is specifically designed to look the part but it doesn't need to actually be the best thing for us I think pellets make birds look the part but none of us know exactly what's in them a bit like chicken nuggets kids love them but it all the sh it that they are made of as for cooking food I was always led to believe cooking can remove allot of the good stuff from the food so I think I will stick to a seed mix JMO

That's spot on I stopped buying versa for that reason I've still got to buy Gerry plus as I don't really think any one else makes the same mix

I just feel it's the start of the selection process a good pair of birds even racers should be able to rear strong robust y/birds and not show any signs of distress to either them or y birds just the same with pellets yes they will help the y/birds but I felt it was a draw back when I started training JMO

This tread was supposed to be about overfly but quite rightly so nearly every post mentions the wind so really there is only two winds that affect overfly a true south or North but but even then it won't change many results and I see no one mentions the fact that when the birds don't leave the race point right away that falls in the favour of the longer flyer don't ask me why the convoy does that some time that's another subject but as said a fit keen bird bred for that distance will be there or there about just a wee thing watch the winds for the 1 st 3/4 old bird and y/b races the prevailing west wind might not be so prevailing well it's been like that for the last 5/6 years JMO enjoy your racing if your birds are right your turn will come

Only when the hawk attacks the birds get used to it in every day life but when panic sets in they can hit it

Yes give a barren hen any situation eggs y/birds big y bds lets u set her up for any race I've even stuck a 18 day old y bd in watch her try and cover it in the stock loft lets u move anything at any time and are usually the best feeders u can get

A baren hen can be a god send both racing and breeding I've scored with a few and have two in the loft right now none of them race but what a star in the stock loft

A good pigeon is just that and yes the feeding has allot to do with it and sprinters can do well at the distance but if u want consistency better to stick to a proven family of distance birds JMO

Wouldn't have paid a fortune to studs for stuff that couldn't get out the 2nd y/bird race but maybe it was me

George tried to race as many races as he could don't know if he ever got to the Barcelona but he used to time birds reg. from the other races I think he had to go to the Birmingham area to basket I would love to try it but I failed miserably from saintes twice so gave it up until I get they type of birds

Yes many will fly in the dark I've tossed my nat birds at just before dark many times thinking it might teach them to get up early and get home only to find some on the loft on my return an hr later but some don't

Is it like a syrup if not it's watered down and that would affect the dose but 10ml is what I give for 48hrs as they don't drink right away so lock them up no other water

If you have bought stuff from jock it will have the endurance/well bank in it he doesn't keep a lot of doo,s so more than a 50% chance

he,s not in the same league as jocks yet but he has been in the tickets 5 times over the water but still time yet he also scored at cleremont 126th both races were not easy dont know if there are any other birds that have raced both race.s
