Yes to all above and the fee for the rpra transfer may have gone up but most unions are about £1-50 for a Sheet good luck and welcome to a great sport
-
Yes I agree 100 percent Walter I've been lucky being very friendly with two guys that really know their stuff about the goods and bad I've listened closely and tweeked it to suit me I've also spoken to a feeding dieticision Who actually invented most of the modern mixes that was very interesting the well versed fancier I was with might want to comment that's up to him he actually cought the expert out a few times but when challenged he gave what I consider a fair ans. these manufacturers spend big money to try and get it rite for the birds but fanciers being what wee are think wee know better and are very fussy/ stuck in our ways that was me for many years but for me it completely changed my results and attitude yes there is always exceptions to this but are they fanciers one telling the truth and are they consistent ? As for the quality of the I wonder just how many of us would know good feeding let me explain that a bit if feeding was left in damp bad conditions and went damp mouldy and I separated half of it and polished one half with a dish cloth could any of know that was the same feeding also how or what has been added to the corn from harvest to loft has it been gassed to keep in the damp hold of a boat for months wee will never know so wee have to trust one think u will know when u get a bad lot it will show very quickly in the birds all these unknowns is what makes our sport great this is just my opinion/ experience over many years every day is a school day

Didn't know u we're watching lol that's my secretes out now

Here's my take way. If u are realy interested in the distance 550 Mls then u cannot hold back feeding starting right back to the moult time it starts there but at the racing u got to suffer the early races protein on return from race for at least two days I use breed and wean then Tuesday/ Wednesday Thursday am Gerry plus Thursday nite frid widowhood mix I use this for 3/4 races then start to tweek as the racing goes up say at. 150/250/300/400 and so on after say 4th race I start moving the widowhood back to Thursday/ frid and by the time u get to the 300/400 ml stage it's protein sun maybe mon am Gerry mon./ pm Tuesday / Wednesday / two mixes of widowhood super widow to Thursday nite Friday buck tons extra high energy now here comes the wee twist that some fanciers say winning lofts secretes all that can move depending on the weather/ racing ( hard or easy) that comes down to experience judging your own team of birds what works very well for me might not for u so some think I've held something back and instead of looking at them self it's easier to blame some one I've done it many times yes I give wee bits and piece peanuts oil brewers yeast kelp the one thing I do wrong is I never rite it down so all that can change a bit I've tried to do it but failed miserably

Young Birds Bath
frankdooman replied to racing novice's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Got to that's a wee subject I've struggled a bit maybe because I've waited too long to let the y/ bds out but yes right away -
Sory for being a Sado but do wee really expect everyone to really tell the truth here bearing in mind it's pigeon fanciers wee talking about
-
There is a Scottish lass sitting not too far from me now must be on the drugs she,s all ways got a sore heed.
-
Exactly Lewis I will give you the most enhancement drug used in the pigeon sport and would virtually guarantee that every fancier trying with birds has is using it it's called HEMP. Seed but it's release to the bird is over 24 hrs so no good above say 200 Mls different oils have a different release time so can be used for som longer races but I don't know of any that would last say 3/4 days so are these a banned substance. NO why
-
Just as I say how can anyone police that it's a joke and any of the cheats see that they will know that plus that list might just let them know a few more now
-
That ones easy George aspirin thins the blood and allows more oxygen
-
Rab is this for real Jesus most of them I can't say never mind what they could be in
-
Sory I've not had time to read threw all the posts so I apologise if this has been asked before Can any one put up the list of banned enhancement drugs as I can't see how wee can police any of this until the union,s ( all of them) get tere house in order if wee don't know what's in the stuff do u think the union,s would chance a possible court case with the rules they have in place just now I think not JMO
-
That's not a prob Walter my biggest disappointment has to be winning 1st open Reims 2012 576mls then sending him back last year and as far as I was concerned he was twice the bird that won it I never seen him again I sent 6 Birds to 3 water races last year and scored well with 4 of them that was the only one I lost sick as a parrot that's life
-
Never had much success with stuff like that it's hard enough rearing good strong y/ bds off a good pair without adding to it it's a tough decision but if your sure of the two young u want suffer the others right now
-
Exactly Andy I would never judge my birds or how I prepared them on these kind of races you then think it's all wrong but maybe wrong that's what makes this sport so hard /great so don't discount what u done Walter too quick
-
Walter I remember that race well I was at Reims that day with the SNRPC wee got off a bit better because wee were further east when the birds were hitting the country the Irish boys got it hard that day too but that was just one of they nightmares it just so happened that u got doo,s prob in the best conditions for the day but the wee man wasn't on the birds wings were they over the 500 Mls before iam of the believe that that extra 80/100 Mls can mean different doos but as u say you have addressed the situation

What's Your Views On Barkers
frankdooman replied to Dannyashton's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
The one big thing about any of the old great family,s is that even in a small loft it's far too easy to breed the them out in just a few years so what wee are calling a family can be very much removed from the original so move that up to a bigger set up with many birds and even less control they are then condemned and normally sold in and spread even thinner but still being called a family , and just like all the rest they don't all keep producing good stock but if u can find a good seem this family were and could be one of the greats and lovely birds too look at too -
Only if she is breeding her like that's the deciding factor to stop or not I've a cock that's scored 5 times over 500 ml but not bred a cruddy worth talking about off most of my best hens but hoping the g/ c might pass it on how old is she and good luck with which ever u decide she,s a good 1 no doubt

Don't try and break till the birds in the nest are out then put them down again and carefully pick a few at a time once a few are flying out it gets easier
-
Yes between them bursting and frightening the sh-- out them they will get used to them and go down in the corner and the wire floor on elastic bands didn't work either they just built nests in the low sec quite funny watching them bounce about in the nest every time a bird landed on the high end I fly roundabout for the 1 st 4/5 races so my cocks have to come past the nests with 4 eggs in them now if your observant if a cock sits one of the nests that's your poorer for sat and the hens on the nest race just as well as natural birds for they races so I've decided for my race set it's a win win just go with it it might be different for the out and out widowhood short distance guys but I can't do they races maybe they are best to comment
