I avoid auctions just dont trust them, far better to see a price on the pen, I have seen all the anticks that go on in past years, with so called commision bids. and was told what to watch for by an auctioner.
spot on i never clean my drinkers during racing ob or ybs just rince them, replace them new each year, and dont treat for anything never seen yb sickness.
when i pair my birds i dont put the bowls in untill the fifth day then straw day after this way all eggs will be laid within 48 hours of each other if bowls are put in too soon some will build nests same day and within two days will start driving the hen before she is due to lay.
I got my kirkys from oldyellow 10 years ago and to me thay are brilliant never let me down, I have bought birds at blackpool in the past some good some bad now I only buy them from racing lofts, I only raced ybs last year 28 raced 14 birds won 20 cards between them not many could say 50% of there team scored.
happy birthday for yesterday and thankyou for looking after one of our featherd friends it has most likley gone home all it needed was rest and a little food, thanks.
a gray grizzle hen, hens tend to be a lot tamer than cocks, and yes it is a short faced tippler, whats on the green ring any nunbers or letters as this would help,
I agree with bigda should be no need to mark eggs just mark down in your stock book whos eggs feeders are sitting when yb are rung put them down to the origional pair.
