  1. cheers Ryan thanks for the answers,
  2. Hi Wiley interesting report , Can I ask did during your loft visit did they mention if they fed the mon-wed food allowance after loft flight or before just thinking would the birds do the work at home if fed in only. With the regards of the use of Superstar what was the reason why they added protein (within the superstar ) that late in the week rather than Gerry and fats thanks once again for the interesting read
  3. paired the stock today and will pair the race team in a week or so , looking forward to seeing what my new pairings breed in the stock shed
  4. Hi Mate I am mixing it 50/50 for now , when I race I tend to mix in 20 per cent barley to what ever I feed to the last couple of days of the week as I tend to over feed .Then over 200 miles I add 10 per cent barley if I stick with the multi task I think it will need about 30/40 per cent maize adding after Monday or Tuesday I just wanted to try it out so I thought I would buy a bag
  5. having purchased one bag to try of the multi task to mix in with barley leading up to training I find there does seem to be a lot of sunflower in it and not just the hearts the black shell as well other than that it looks a nice clean mix
  6. I think his reports are about the best around at the moment for the detail etc
  7. same here Michael another 7-10 days to wait for me before I pair them up, I prefer no ybs on the loft to late April or early May to many hawks around here in March into April for me
  8. cheers Wiley thank you for your advice
  9. Hi Wiley would you think this mix could be used as a base mix to race on with some extra protein added Sunday maybe Monday and about 30% maize added from Wednesday to the multi mix ? from what I have read I would think like you mention 50% peas or beans added to it wouldn't be a bad breeding mix either
  10. if there any where that you can find the percentage of each grain used within this mix cant seem to find the info on the Bamfords web site
  11. I only train my ybs ,as I work a fair bit at weekends that time of year but do train them well
  12. why don't you race the old birds spare or roundabout and have your ybs from your stock latter to wean in may and then pair your old birds up in one section and have the ybs in the other and race natural for the longer races
  13. near Ware in herts you can buy beans if it not to far

    Stall Trap

thanks very nice , but mine will go on to a aviary so just need the trap section to train the late ybs to so it not a new thing to them when they go in the old bird shed , with the amount of hawks i cant take a chance on them taking time to get use to a new system in march do you do just the top part say 4 hole?

    Feeding Once A Day

hi Alex I think I read he left a pot of barley in the cocks boxes and then fed them a sport mix once day for a hour which could be at the time you mentioned after they had there fly which thinking about it isn't a bad idea

    Feeding Once A Day

hi wiley can I ask what sort of amounts you feed Am or do you fill them up and I guess this would be 8-10 hours prior to you having them out I am glad you posted this as I was thinking of doing it a little wrong if I fed twice by a light feed Am and a heavy feed after the fly pm

    Feeding Once A Day

yes Tony , I have few problems with neighbours so I only have the birds out once due to flying cocks and hens parted and ybs so I have 3 lots to get out so dare not risk the birds going out twice or it will be a problem with the neighbour
  22. do any members feed there old bird teams once a day during the season I know a fair few feed youngsters just once but wondered if anyone did the same with old birds and if so would you give a set amount or add some barley to the feed as a guide

    How Long ?

I thought barley and wheat was best used within a couple of months or it starts to lose certain vitamins although I do not know if once this first couple months period is over if there is any difference from then to say a years time
