Got a yearling hen killed by two peregrines last night. Birds went out at 5.30 pm, whilst I was still in the loft I heard the gulls / crows making a lot of noise. Came out to see what the commotion was, only to find two peregrines in the air. The strange thing was the falcons were not making an attempt at the birds circling the loft, they were taking turns at diving into the school playing fields behind my loft. My view over the playing field is obscured due to a raised shrub bed. It took me about 45 minutes to get the birds down and back into the loft. The peregrines were around all this time. Once I got the birds in, I realised 1 hen was missing. After a further 15 minutes, the falcons were still going about, never seen them so low and diving into the playing fields. I decided to go over into the field to see what they were diving at, sure enough behind the raised shrub bed, only 50 m from my loft, was a hen peregrine on top of the mutilated carcase of my Blue Hen - THESE *expletive removed* Doos have only been out last 4 days and been struck twice - will keep them in for a few day then see what happens. Really hacked off
