i totally agree with you spin cycle my work often takes me in all different directions and if strays had tel no rings on or had wing stamps then at least i could release them nearer to home rather than having to go through the rpra to trace the owner kev

better it died in a safe and comfortable place then impaled on a branch in a hedge well done kev for making the effort
-
its a pity the bird had to be moved on but thats better then it suffering a long drawn out death dying of starvation/dehydration and also it would have been at the mercy of wild animals while in this state, well done david for making the effort the fancier who sent this bird on a 30 mile toss while in such poor condition should be ashamed of himself but i doubt hes given it a second thought > kev

i totally agree with gooner and numpty if people are prepared to send em then they should be prepared to send for em if they get reported i understand that some people are short of cash but if we can afford to feed, medicate and race em then we should also pay to send for em if they can be rested/fed and they then choose to make their own way home then thats great but if the stray becomes a nuisance and refuses to head for home then we shouldnt expect the finder to have to deal with OUR problem kev ps if i remember rightly didnt les jones win a national with a stray a couple of years ago?

i had the horse wormer cos my brother has horses and as equest horse wormer has moxedectin in it (which is supposed to also kill lice/mites on pigeons) i thought i would try it,plenty of fanciers use horse wormers so i couldnt see a problem using it as long as i get the dosage right, how do you administer yours freebird and what dosage ? any other advice also appreciated from other fanciers who have used horse wormers regarding the dosage debbie

sorry to hear that george but id be suprised if some didnt work there way back to the loft within the next few days especially when they get hungry, i had the same thing happen last year when a neighbour slammed his car door but most worked there way home i spose it depends on how much of a scare they got-did they get spooked just cos he was in the garden or did he go charging towards them barking? kev

i get half a bucket of corn and mix 1 teaspoonfull of wheatgerm oil into it,then i crush 8 brewers yeast tablets into a fine powder and add onto corn before giving it all a good mix up in the bucket, some use different oils like garlic or cod liver but i use wheatgerm oil kev
-

glad one of em is back chris hopefully the other one is still in the area but you never can tell when yb,s go awol ive had em come back after nighting out from anything between the next morning to 5 days later i had one go awol myself yesterday but it was trying to get in my loft at first light this morning and shot thru the traps when i opened them so he prob spent the night on a neighbours roof i let my yb,s walk in/out the loft door to the garden as soon as they start to get curious and start to leave the nest so they get used to the outside of the loft i hope you get the other one back kev

i totally agree with les when he says that the police are bent i was no angel as a kid and spent time in and out of court and the police were more than happy to dump crimes on you that you didnt commit just to improve their clear up rate and i dont suppose its any different now but when it involves stitching people up for murder then i hope they get everything they deserve but that wont happen to to them being ex police officers > kev

as jimmy says its no good trying lee by way of a kangeroo court we should be teaching him the right way to go about getting new birds i know i wasnt an angel as a kid (far from it ) and i took more than my fare share of lost racers from derelict buildings, town centres, etc as did my mates, its how we got started in those days and i bet theres a few on basics who did the same as kids? im not saying what he did was right and i wouldnt be too happy if it was one of my birds he was trying to claim but with some help/guidance im sure he will see the error of his ways and well done lenwadebob for offering to help him kev

hi premier im not a old hand by any means but would agree with blaz and oldyellow on this and separate the cock so he,s alone with his hen as blaz says try tempting him with some peanuts, maize, small seeds and a pigeon tonic/vitamins if u have them his confidence has taken a battering as well as himself so maybe he will perk up on his own just keep your eye on him good luck kev
