  1. Yes I know George Mac had pigeons from Mc Harrie of Monkton. I had brothers and sisters to them and they won right from their first race. He told me that when the Coatbridge guys discovered that he was winning these birds they organised bus trips to Monkton.
  2. Good post. Lime in any of it's forms needs to be treated with respect
  3. What about Eddie Lauder and Eddies Supreme. I know a son of Eddie's Supreme left a dynasty of winners in Coatbridge. I thought Bigda might have known that
  4. Could just be the weather. Try giving them dummy eggs to sit on then swap the eggs from another pair and let them rear the young. They should then lay normally---if not the hen could be barren.
  5. There is a Busschaert thread presently on Pigeon Basics. Just look at the recent posts for more information.
  6. just shows how easily it can be done. Do you have any idea when you let the card out of your sight?
  7. Good to know that Jimmy as memory can (and does ) play tricks. Yes the Name Sandycroft Slayer was at the back of my mind as was the Woodfield Wizard.
  8. I think the pigeon Tele Savalas was raced by Alan Atkinson of North Wales and bougnt by Louella.. I think a guy called Geoff Reynolds wrote about him in his column in the BHW weekly. This is the same area as Derek Jones.
  9. I would tend to think about whether there is something causing this problem. 2 birds with broken flights in a short time seems too coincidental to be correct. Could they have broken them fighting in the loft or were the flights possibly weak to start with?
  10. Do you know the breeding/ background of any of the birds you have and ask the question again stating this info
  11. It's supply and demand really. Phoning Brian will not be a problem he is a really nice guy. I had birds from him 10 years ago slightly different breeding from what he is timing now but one of them was £250 at that time. He has had an advert in the BHW year book every year for many years now. I think it serves little purpose now as the birds will sell on his performances. His advert is only supporting the BHW.
  12. How many marking stations will there be? Will the birds all be on the same transporter?
  13. Snowing all day in Ayrshire.
  14. I thik this list only scratches the surface. There are many more. This family has won in all areas of the country but I agree the success rate in the North East was superb. Now I wonder where would we go to purchase the best available Busschaerts today.
  15. If you ring them too early the ring may come off in the nest. If you have difficulty with the rear toe simply insert the point of a pencil behind it and pull the toe through. The ring sizes can vary from year to year.
  16. Snowing heavily in Scotland----should continue most of the day.

  18. No a good combination bleach and any acid. Watch you don't do yourself an injury.
  19. Well he hiz some but in Barmill---that says it all
  20. I have a gamekeeper friend who developed heart problems. When he was hospitalised they thought the likely cause was spraying pheasant houses with Virkon while not wearing a mask. At the time I doubted this diagnosis but I would now always treat the product with great caution.
  21. Now thats dedication big man
