There is a wealth of information available on the met office site to help people understand weather. There is a section explaining thunderstorms and how the water droplets rising within a thunder cloud form ice which can fall as hail. It also explains how the base of the cloud becomes negatively charged. This is accompanied by a chart showing the incidence if thunderstorms by location. The highest frequency is in the SE of England especially during the summer months. Yet, we take our birds as Far East as possible. There is very little logic in that as far as I can see. Unless I am mistaken the birds arrived at Reims on Thursday when the ambient temperature was around 30 degrees. Goodness knows what it was inside the baskets.
