We had an outdoor pond with koi but filled it in when the grandchildren came along. The cost of running outdoor pumps in a large pond would be prohibitive.

Roland, the SHU committee had a meeting on Sunday. I assume someone asked the secretary to check for updates on Monday. She did this and circulated the information giving the permissive for birds to be exercised. There is no need to discuss this any further as the RPRA were found wanting yet again. I wait with baited breath to see if the Christmas race will go ahead as the fanciers concerned would have missed some training but have the opportunity to catch up now.

Honestly I don't have a clue what all the discussion on this thread is about. The SHU have said there is no problem allowing your birds their freedom. A little careful management and loft discipline will meet their proviso. Frankly I am more concerned about the muppets who encourage feral into their area by feeding them.

In keeping with the SHU information letter my hens are out at the moment. Perhaps the RPRA have a different view on matters as they just haven't bothered to seek an update and they are mainly concerned with an area several hundred miles south of most members of this site.
