  4. pigeon359 you're thinking way too much, pidge has made one mistake he was getting fed and watered where he was, actually showing the brains to remain where he was, going by some of the previous posts maybe he was being treated better than in the owners loft?? He failed miserably did he? How do you know? Is every bird that goes missing a miserable failure? I know I have lost good pigeons, multiple scorers and winners. The "fancier" concerned should look in the mirror as he is the only failure I can see, unfortunately he will probably blame pidge who won't survive next contact. I hope that those that class every bird that loses its way once as a failure do take that look in the mirror because more often the answer will lie there Well done Vickie, I apologise, and am embarrassed for the fancy by this members actions. No wonder the public at large have a low opinion of our sport,,,,,,,,... Baz
  5. Ayrshire fed at Carnwath
  6. Great feeling. Well done your pigeon
  7. Think there has to be a limit. You could get a pigeon reported and drive to pick it up after the 3rd day.... what happens then? It could conceivably in a race like Niort win hundreds of pounds in pools??
  8. Vicki to be honest, if the bird is now fit and rested it should make home no problem from there now. You are right the bird won't like being in there. Best idea is wait until morning and transport it at least 3 miles away - it should then clear for home - I am saddened to hear no show from the fancier concerned. You can report him to the RPRA you know. Baz
  9. Please feel free to put the ring number and letter details on here - the fancier concerned is out of order. If you would prefer you can pm me the details of the bird/and /or fancier. Hopefully someone will sort this for you, disgusting way to treat a member of the public and a terrible attitude to display our sport! Baz
  10. Absolutely Geordie.
  11. How did it work out surely a bird tired enough to drop into Essex sin't going to appreciate being libbed 400 miles from home?? Come on!
  12. Ardeer winner Jim Stirrat timed at 11.01.00 vel 1295 good shooting we were in 11.04 returns 27/30 arrivals at clocks in club roughly 155/190 birds
  13. good to hear - hope we can get off to a decent start...all the best
  14. truth will out - Carnwath tomorrow lads, best of luck if you sent 190 away from Ardeer and 194 from Clyde Coast.
  15. In Stevenston with J Nicol tel 01294 602432
  16. Golden Mile is on its way back for the young yins YEEEEHAAAAA :emoticon-0123-party: but seriously- rubbish vote imo but we will have to stick with it, bang goes ANY decent national flying in Ayrshire with a east route. Think of when M Cowan, A Speirs, Carlin Bros, J Barr, R Whyte,C McKerrow, R Kennedy etc were scoring high up - oh yes where were we flying out of - Penkridge Stafford Cheltenham Dorchester teaching our OBS to break WEST - now we can all stand and watch them come out of Beith every week again. I refrain from using the other man's name you mention. Let's hope next year isn't back down teaching our birds to come up the east coast of England. That is the reason there are not the National performances, the programme doesn't set the Ayrshire birds up for it. If it was up to me I would fly the Ayrshire programme with sprint/middle doos. Wullie Julyan won the Anderson Shield with a team of middle distance yearlings - if AF wants to bring channel racing into focus it must go with SNFC to more than just the North coast of France ie one middle distance channel race in it's programme. There should be a trophy and a prize put up by AF for every National (1st bird into Ayrshire) fanciers need supporting and to have goals to fly for (a trophy or a prize)or else they will just be happy finishing 10th fed for a tenner from 250 mile. The last 5 races should read, for example Cheltenham Hullavington Bath then supposing the SNFC go to Eastbourne and Ypres so be it, we have given our birds a route up the west/middle so if and when they break they may go our side of the pennines when conditions permit. PS this is all a personal view set down in two minutes it may not all be spot-on but in essence what needs to happen and be stuck to in order for National racing to be even properly viable in Ayrshire. That, and a lot more doos sent with confidence and fanciers actually wanting distance racing instead of talking about it. Baz
  17. Just have to see how it goes I suppose. I wouldn't have changed the route at all - but you jus have to trust that it's not a knee-jerk reaction to the terrible returns (i have been in Doncaster and South Essex recently visiting world-class lofts and both told me they have never known terrible racing like it - so why Ayrshire members felt the need to switch their YBs (did they not learn from last year when we hit the NRCC libbing above us in the East?) Short memories??
  18. Changed back down a different route we go -.............. wonder if we now change the OB season for next year? 2 Carnwaths 2 hawick 2 otterburn hexham and sedgefield. Must be a different Otterburn and Hexham from the ones I keep reading bad reports about??
  19. well in Charlie nice 1,2

    Nfc Tarbes

Best of luck Lee mate, due a win I reckon !
  21. Ayrshire dos were doing 1600 that day and I think the Lanarkshire doos had a harder day for sure due to the wind (reverse today with a much stronger west wind) we were doing 858ypm and were 1st club! However, to say they were all washed into the irish channel can't be right as Ayrshire had 90% returns so at worst the Lanarkshire doos were in Ayrshire would be difficult to imagine they couldnt get home from there but it seems birds getting off line at all this season are lost. Don't think the route is to blame at all - chopping and changing routes I believe is the WORST move of all....
  22. We are 1st & 2nd Ardeer club at 1308 and 1322 velocity 858 and 795 club sent 33 birds - that heavy westerly sure slowed them down. Hope you boys got them up eventually Baz
  23. hope ye get them John, we sent 12 still looking fir 10 of them!
  24. Heartbreaking - all the way to Mexico to pay for treatment. Shames us as a country. We can only pray for a miracle for the wee girl Baz
  25. Will be much easier up into Lanarkshire than down onto the west coast, the wind blowing 25-30 mph west they will be very, very slow in Ayrshire today
