  1. Hello lads I hope you are well, am after some info - basically I want to try and find out the birdages of the midland fed racepoints this season and where they raced from. I am trying to establish a pattern to discern whether we are better switching west from east with Ayrshire fed - there is a movement afoot to do so and I just want to put some figures out there for members to make an informed decision Do you have intimate knowledge of the fed's numbers mate or where I could find the info ? Best Regards Baz
  2. well done all, hard day results - best of luck in the coming weeks Gareth and co
  3. to be fair mate this must happen to fanciers near main lib sites every week during the season - be glad you don't live in the likes of Stafford, Portland, Hullavington which are used almost every week for several feds/combines - live & let live - some of our neighbours were known put their YB team out when we are waiting on our race birds sometimes because they hadn't sent lol
  4. great flying ! Well done going well
  5. cheers all, best of luck today
  6. Ayrshire libbed at 1230 Thirsk hoping for a steady race - good luck wherever you are racing from!
  7. Ayrshire at Thirsk, libbed at 1230 good luck all
  8. Anyone got a good one??
  9. well in good stuff
  10. Can't see it being voted in - would be a WORTHWHILE TEST RACE though. TBH I can see a West of Scotland Combine with a SW route into Ireland being a go-er if only minds can be opened to the possibility (higher velocities, better returns would be possible/probable) my thinking is that this racing would take place in June/July when the weather for crossing the "hop" would be mild(ish) Only problem I can see is that National "traditionalist" fanciers may have to split their teams to compete in National racing (unless referring as Semi-National) there iv said it
  11. Well done ovy that is seriously great of you - if there is one of ours there we will do it justice by getting it home , the days of condeming YBs for going AWOL once are long gone.. Baz
  12. Well done to the winners regardless of position, incl section winners by the way
  13. Great post pal
  14. Largest majority of the membership wouldn't vote for this route mate, it would favour the west of the country. Not saying it would be right or wrong (I happen to think there would be far easier racing for all with the prevailing winds tailing the convoy) witness the NIPA velocities but just that it wouldn't get through. Hard tho the route is, it is there for all - my take is that you set your own goals whether that be section cards or open etc. Your position will always dictate your ambition, though we can always have dreams ! Best of luck to all of you
  15. very good post. Tho I would HOPE that the west birds would all be on the same transporter where possible ie Ayrshire/Renfrewshire/Lanarkshire doos..... and DEFINITELY not on the Aberdeen transporter as I hear was the case on the weekend (Kilmarnock doos were to be put on Aberdeen transporter)
  16. Its 65 miles from Broxburn to Largs - how long should they take in a headwind having already flown 250-275 miles?? 20 minutes? If we fly a National in an East wind and the birds came up West of the Pennines then the East birds would be 2 hours behind the west. Once the convoy has gone east of the Pennines there's isn't an opportunity for the pigeons to make for the west until they more or less hit the M8 - it's not rocket science. It's just a fact. It really doesn't help with West fanciers being slated in silly forum posts. If you took an east fancier and made him fly from Ayrshire for the year, and an Ayrshire fancier and put his loft in Edinburgh - I can guarantee you Edinburgh loft would be far in front of the Ayrshire loft even tho the same pigeons and fanciers reversed had previously shown the East fancier to be the "better" - it's not comparing like with like. Do you seriously consider that there are 50 or 60 lofts in the Sections that dominate the results where the pigeons are actually all better than the best lofts in Ayrshire, Renfrewshire etc? When the West dog-leg and fly an extra 60-70 miles they are always going to be slower. Ask the fanciers in South Ayrshire when they are doing 950ypm and the North/Coast are doing 1300ypm from 70 mile races... its simple geography. Very difficult to judge East vs West due to the geography of Scotland. Still, won't stop fanciers trying - posts slating West fanciers just don't help and only serve to de-moralise. Best of luck in National racing 2013
  17. 60- 65 miles or thereabouts from Broxburn to Ayrshire at 40mph it's going to be an hour and half - don't think they would be any closer to the East birds today than that... saying that we're still waiting (chin up me!)
  18. are there any SU 12 A rings mate?
  19. Sent 3 in the end, planned on more but thats life, gonna be a hard fly into the West coast - you'll be timing in Fraserburgh bout the same time as us - 100 miles further. Best of luck all
  20. Best of luck , I think the first bird into Ayrshire will be close to 3 o clock
  21. Well, from a cast of 8-10 a whole three made it to the race basket, one hen laid two cocks moulting covers, one hen off colour etc but those that have gone are ready and will be fighting hard into that Westerly tomorrow All the best all, Baz
  22. We have to try - it's the start of a go at National racing (ie a serious go and not just the odd pigeon) which we will go for over the coming three to four seasons to try and establish a family winning from 300 550/600 miles. From YB Nat right through. Been told the YB National is a "graveyard" but you have to make your own mistakes - have to see how it goes but Saturday is the start of that and those that do it will have earned their place in the team for next season. Thanks alec
  23. Sending 8-10 from the wild west of Ayrshire 310 to us (250 from Leicester plus 60 back into the wind from the East coast)
  24. well done to all involved

    Low Life

believe me, its not fanciers cutting the life ring off its animal rights they are spreading the words and some of them have aviaries for injured birds etc so when racing pigeons brought to them they think they are releasing the bird from having to race.... when really they are condemning it to the bin
