Chris, It is not about freedom of speech. I am all for freedom of speech but there are too many agenda's on here. There are people who go out of their way to be contraversial or to cause bother to even up scores in their opinion. I personally keep pigeons for enjoyment and have returned to this great sport after a long while out due to work and family committments. I come on here for information and contact with genuine pigeon fanciers but there are some who are more interested in spouting crap and trying to take up some unfounded crusade and just end up irritating people. As for my planet it is inhabited by intellegent lifeforms unlike some of the threads on here. I work for an organisation where I have to manage people. One of my biggest frustrations is when people winge about working conditions and say things like ' i hate this place' and 'this place is sh*t' or ' i hate it here'. My answer to that is ' it can't be that bad as you chose to come here every day, nobody forces you, you make the decision to get out of bed every day and come here so you cant hate it that much as you chose to come in every day'. If i didnt like my job as (i have done in the past ) i leave and get another job, simple. It is a bit like that on here if you are not happy go elsewhere but close the door on the way out. There are too many martyrs for my liking. At the end of the day that is only my opinion and as you have stated everyone is entitled to their opinion and freedom of speech is something our fore-fathers fought hard for in order that we can express ourselves. Paul.

I am losing the will to live with all this rubbish. If you dont like it or the way things are go elsewhere. If all the knockers go away and argue amoungst themselves it will give the decent fanciers amoungst us the chance to talk pigeons without petty annoyance. We may get the opportunity to learn a thing or two maybe. Also the chance to make some friends along the way and to help each other at every given opportunity without snipers and spoilers trying to screw it up at every opportunity. As I have intimated if you are not happy here you know where the door is, just make sure you close it on the way out. Paul.

Good luck. I hope in some way this helps you all get over a horrific experience. If you need any youngbirds to put into those lovely lofts please dont hesitate to get in touch. Regards, Paul.

This is a common problem in breeding Budgerigars. In Budgerigars it is known as French moult and there are no definate answers as to what causes it all kind of theries mind you the most common one being that it is a viral infection. in some cases the feathers start growing back right away after they have dropped and in some cases thay dont grow back properly. The birds are affected in different ways, i.e some lose flights, some flights and tails and some even body feathers. I realise that this is totaly different to pigeons but I have never heard of this in pigeons before. It might be worth getting them tested just incase it is a secondary problem. Paul.

Without exception all my best racers did very little as young birds. Birds that went on to win 3,4,5,6,9 first prizes and multiple fed and combine prizes at best had only minor cards as young birds if any at all. i have had young birds that have been multiple winners and fed winners to boot that have been very dissapointing as old birds. I have never been a great believer in young bird form or performances all I wanted was them to be steady and not make mistakes and be there at the end of the year. different strains and different birds mature at different speeds but you can't wait forever. Paul.

I would like to ask you all one question, How many of you think that the sport is in terminal decline? The answer from most would be yes. I would like to make a point relating to this site and other sites like it. We all have a responsibility to protect, nurture and promote the sport we all love. I have just returned to keeping pigeons after a 9 year absence and I missed the birth of these pigeon forums and websites. Anyone in this day and age that considers starting out in any hobby or are merely looking for information on a topic will not go and visit a local fancier or go to the library to loan a book they will visit the internet. The answer to everything now is 'stick it into google and see what it comes up with'. We are basically a shop window for new fanciers entering the sport wether we like it or not. I feel there is a responsibility on each and every one of us to do what we can to secure the long tem future of the sport otherwise there will be nobody for us to race against in the future. Some of the stuff that goes on here on this site is deplorable and I hold my hand up that in the past I have let people get under my skin and I have reacted. In all honesty I should have let it go but I feel that sometimes things have to be said but all the personal attacks and taunting of people just to get a reaction is out of order. Potential new starters looking in on this are likely to run a mile and as I have said like it or not this is the biggest medium to attract new blood into the sport. Gone are the days when there was a pigeon fancier in every street and in every family to expose youngsters to the sport of racing pigeons. I applaud the likes of Ian Mckay and the work him and others are doing to bring pigeon racing into schools as most of these kids probably dont even know that pigeon racing exists. Like it or not we all have a responsibility to act responsibly on here. There have been times when I have been extremely proud to call myself a pigeon fancier i.e when Ally Mac did all that great work for the Phoebe appeal and we all pulled together and some of the other charity auctions have had that effect also. On the other hand there are times when it is embarrassing to be assosiated with some of the bile on here, the taunting, the winding up and the baiting of people it is at times pathetic. Take a look in the mirror, are you adding value or are you just being contraversial for the sake of it. We are missing a great opportunity here. Paul.

If he is out and blind in one eye he would be very vunerable. I would honestly consider keeping him in or he could be a sitting duck. Paul.
