good questions! prob with 2 day shows or penning/judgeing night before is in many cases you are forceing fanciers to have to pay for accomodation. Judgeing in the penning night would also mean the show having to pay accomodation for the judges.

Back on thread, the bird looks top quality and i'm sure would soon repay the cost!

put the drinkers away from air vents and in a box with only 1 open side for access. Best to empty at night if you can but if you are unable to then try the above.

somebirds will be stressed but this is normaly a sign of poor feeding in preperation.

was this a 1 day show?

A lot of the tightness of feathering around the neck etc is also in the breeding.

which show are you refering to?

A racer that has access to the aviary will often have tighter feathering than a bird closed up.

well fed, regular baths, healthy condition, clean etc but you can't make a poor bird look fantastic for a show.

without having seen and handled both birds it is impossible to tell where you are going wrong! Maybe your feeding or maybe your birds just arn't up to showing.

with an arch shaped hole as above the birds will want to go through the middle and not the sides, if racing with ets you want them all going through asap and not in single file.

looks good although i'd just have a square hole with a couple of bob wires and before you let the birds out shut them up in the flight and get them coming in through it before you try and use it for real!

when we last judged at the Comrades we were put up in a hotel a couple of miles out of Donny, think it was a best western, very nice place and a good bar.
