    has Bob stopped grinning yet?
  3. no reason birds given a course of baytril will not perform equaly as well if not better the following year but more important is the after care! My question would be if you suspect p/t and you treat with Baytril to cure the problem and give the muti vits/probiotics afterwards is there any point in vaccinating as you are then giving yourself an annual programme to follow?

That wasn't the best of it Mick, left here 3.45am, picked a chap up and his show team in the next village, then to Merthyr and collected another chap and his birds, got to Dancaster at 8. 10 past 8 my show partner rang who had the birds in his car was stuck a few hundred yards from a major accident on the M1 which was totaly closed for air ambulance to land. At that point we hoped he would still get through as judgeing started at 9.30! 11.10 he was still sat in the same place on the motorway and hadn't turne a wheel! Oh well, more chaufering duties!

  9. you can always try needle testing before you ring them, about 90% acurate. There do seem to be certain pairs/familys that do throw more cocks than hen, its finding them!
  10. Mark if you find a copy of the colour breeding table that has been posted a few times then pair accordingly you can dispose of certain colours in the nest which would leave you with 100% cocks.

  14. When anybody says anything to me about it I point out the performance's of the Monmouth SRS members current and past, Eddie Gale, Dave Shuttleworth, Ron McCarthy, Bert Hutchins, Norman Perry, Paul Rogers etc etc all winning major shows throughout the country and within the Monmouth SRS who nearly always use racing judges at the society club shows! A good racing man will pick a good Show Racer!
  15. The showmen arn't keen on racing men judgeing for some reason!
  16. The thing i don't like about normal dimmers is they only do one thing normally dim down over a fairly short period of time! The dimmer i've got will dim up and down over a period of upto 30mins which when dimming down allows the birds time to get a last drink and get to roost in plenty of time.
  17. if you use a dimmer/timer you need to check which type of bulbs a suitable!
  18. wife wasn't to keen on her flying pup!
  19. A Crystal Ball!
  20. It does make a difference. Some will go to the show regardless of the judges and in many cases including Blackpool nobody knows who is judgeing what until they get there. What i'm not keen on is a show that has the same judges year in year out because it is easier than finding new judges. The change in RPRA rules has helped now fanciers are permitted to judge and show in the same show.
  21. won't they deliver to Ireland? If not find a local basket maker and get them to make some.

    Loft Temperature

I recall many years ago when people started to look into heating i was told the tubes/heaters should be fitted by the air vents so that they dry the air coming into the loft and not to actualy heat the loft to any degree.
  23. are you planning to organise a show Paul? If so when and where?
  24. prob not but bet they've chased a few old birds!
  25. where did the bird originate from? Blythy will be able to give you more info!
