  1. kept a pair of dragoons , with the racers, showed them at times,,but often used them as droppers,, even tried crossing these with the racers,, the yb,s raced about 150 miles, came reasonable, but lost after that,, [but many other yb,s were lost also]
  2. ;D ;D ;D
  3. with due respect nogin ,,," pigeon mans post means a lot " [for me anyway ] ,, i for one was asked to take 3 birds that were left after a fancier packed in and sold them ,, these 3 didnt sell,,,,, no one wanted them,,, i won the combine sartlly 505 miles by 35 minutes,, with one of them,, so as the old saying goes,,, all that glitters is not gold ;D
  4. i have that book chris,, even have your signature in it , among many other top fanciers
  5. fantastic book,, was proud to have been asked to do a few articles,, on top fanciers 1995,, also had a great time with scotlands own, for many years, , jim renwick was dedicated to scotlands own, and made a great job of it,,, notice in 2000, full page pics of all nat winners

  9. i think he might be busy ;D ;D ;D with his magnum of champagne,,,,, ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. the bit i was wondering about was you often see the same fanciers winning out of turn over many, many years,,, they must either have a way with pigeons, or really good stockmen,, i would suspect both
  11. ;Dyes i quite agree,, but just wondered folks opinions
  12. dont tell alf that ;D ;D ;D hell need a wheely bin ;D ;D ;D
  13. welle try and get blaz to print it ;D,, but good luck to all that entered,, and all that timed ,, some conditions

  15. hammer on the nail ;D my thoughts anyway ;D
  16. i would agree that a bigger the percentage,, for the distance,, but still believe management could make or break a good pigeon,,
  17. i meant the pigeon ,, then the breeder ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  18. its the age old question my answer would be [like a politician] ;D without the fancier the best cannot be gotten out the pigeon without the pigeon, you would have less chance of winning but a good fancier can make a mediocre pigeon win,, a bad fancier can ruin a good bird 50-50 ;D
  19. what percentage would fanciers put in order,,,, to win races fancier,,,,pigeon
  20. 2 first and foremost,, then 6
  21. well done blaz, , fantastic result, ,,,now about that borrow ;D ;D ;D,, brilliant going,, all back
  22. all the very best blaz and all who have entered,,,, [noticed the wee sneaky post b4 ;D ;D ;D ;D],, should have put the winnings in ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D,,and the 4th ;D ;D ;D but ive spent them all now ;D ;D ;D best of luck all beeeeeeg money for some ;D ;D ;D hopefully you blaz [i need a borrow ;D]
  23. anyone care to hazard a guess at the winning velocity 900 my guess
  24. any one remember the" big hen" i think it was jock reid of stenhousemuir [maybe mistaken],, but scored 5 times from rennes ,,b4 the gold award came into place,, great pigeon
  25. in my opinion its often better [and cheaper] to have their droppings tested,,,, and a swab taken,,,then if treating,s a must, so be it,, but as they say,,,if it aint broken you cant fix it ,, many treatments such as cocci, canker, worms etc are cures,,, not preventatives,, good loft management should keep these levels to a minimum, i,e overcrowded loft, un-ventilated lofts,, and dirty, damp lofts ., avoid these at all costs,,,good luck
