Here We Go Open Race Way to reconciliation The creation of a second National club in Scotland was a good thing, a demonstration of the talent and drive that is out there when the feeling is strong enough, while at the same time being detrimental to the pigeon fraternity in Scotland. Divided at a time when it was imperative we stood together. The reasons for this split, are many fold, and complicated. In addition to this those involved on both sides were at the time doing all the right things, for all the wrong reasons. The character’s involved it this, and reasons for their stance point, should be left in the past. Thus it could be argued most, if not all involved, felt they were doing the right thing at that time. Putting these events in the past, and working together again in order to reverse decisions made on both sides, will indeed be difficult to say the least. It will take men from both sides to listen to what the fancier wants. Once the men at the top get a mandate from the fanciers throughout Scotland, in a referendum type vote. Amalgamation or status Que. It will be there duty to for fill the wishes of the fancy. There will be those, out there feel this is taking it to Far I wholly disagree, as our future as a sport may depend upon this. However the main reason for this Referendum, is it lets those involved, take a step back, no longer will they have to support colours they tied to the mast in the past. Decision taken out of their hands. Now each side can have their say before this, however all must agree one thing, the result of such a referendum would be binding and accepted by all. Put the decision in the hands of the fancier, it’s their sport, and there future, that’s is at stake. Who then do we mean by the fancier, there will be those that will argue only members of each national organisations should be entitled to a vote, this would suit some, and be wrong. Due to the fact that this vote will dictate which union fanciers in Scotland would be in, this referendum must be open to all fanciers in Scotland? Let’s put both arguments, and ask the fanciers what they want, by an individual one man one vote, or one loft one vote Clubs seem to have done this when it first happened, and voted with their feet. Let’s not make the same mistake again. (Not by clubs) Yes One National Club in Scotland Or No Sorry and there is more Open Race To coincide with commonwealth Games in Scotland 2014 Race to be financially supported by way of 1. Sales from within the fancy (Race Cost expenditure) 2. Pigeon Lottery ,Run monthly (Prize Money) 3. Sponsorship from Local and National companies, and Organisations (None Money Prizes) Race should be free at point of entry (birds Limited) Every loft in Scotland to have the right to participate (Open) This is the kind of thing the fanciers wants, and should be worked on going forward. Other things to consider Discussions about Inclusion of some form of break formula Pre-designated handlers and helpers Postal vote used for delegates positions The Secretary of such an organisation should be employed (This brings accountability) Please note this is done for the reconciliation of the two national organisations, and not an argument, for the creation of a third.

Most of the above is worthy of further discussion here my two pence worth. No 3 No criticism of individuals, but we must do better on this score, the website and info provided is very poor. No 5 another must for me I fully understand just how complicated this issue could become so it has to be simple to work and be accepted buy a majority Heres one to add a completly sponsored race for the whole of scotland, a real open race where the big team guys would compete with back garden fanciers in an open to any fancier in Scotland, each fancier have the right to send three pigeons free of charge.This maybe a way back to having one National,which is something that must be worked for in order to secure the future of our sport going forward. Sticky toss last night got all barring one. Most returned on there own so good experience for them. First race next Saturday so just about ready to go. Good luck training guys

IB Spot on with this That penny dropped with me this year and mine have had Friday to Monday in the basket as part of their training. Me too had a bad one with Maidston holdover and it set me thinking. Have been examining or monitoring while in basket and have come to the conclusion not enough time is spent on this basket training on both eating and drinking. Would like to here how other train there birds, and over what kind of time they do this.
