  1. Budgie I watched the samson brothers light system video. Very good video with all the info there, E bay purchase. I have been told by a very good fancier that the flights can become brittle. He had 2 i think darkies on the day 400 miles and one light yb next day with a broken flight. It does look wasier to do if you can not get the blinds up and down due to not being at the lofts. I am thinking of investing in automatic curtain openers/ closers to sort that one out.
  2. http://subscriber.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/subscribe.aspx?eid=fd6c94a8-abe4-4879-b04e-6ae2a11ed08d I am thinking of subscribing to it on line. No more waiting for the postie to arrive.
  3. Make good curries out of those show crosses
  4. I used herbs for this years ago then used the normal tablets. Not a worm in sight in the droppings when I used the herbs but then when I did the medicine there were a few there(few weeks later). It was the last time I put my trust in the herbs.
  5. I am thinking about it too.
  6. Anyone paired up yet?
  7. The more I have thought about it the more I still have no idea what the reason that anyone would cross show birds into their racers. What use are they? Even more astonishing is why someone like Jaap who obviously has sold good birds to others does such a thing.
  8. I saw 2 programs about pigeons following land marks. They only let them go a few miles away. This was due to the size of the equipment attched to them. It really was interesting watching the camera pictures but too short to prove anything. One program moved the loft about by quite a distance and they moved with it. Another reared birds who never went out all their life. They were tossed singularly at sea one at a time. The only thing which I think this proved was that the people conducting the experiment were cruel. How the birds were ging to survive after this I have often wondered which the people conducting the experiment either did not think about or could not careless. Pigeons find their way home best in ideal conditions, ie sunny and calm. But then they also navigate in fog and complete cloud cover. I except that some go missing but some make it. "It's a mystery" to me as a singer once sang about. :'(
  9. I have been checking out their site for weeks now. They have sme very good looking birds for a few quid. I have have some and will check it out every day from now on.
  10. As Swilcox has said you got to do your home work, it is your money you are giving away. The are those who do mislead and I know one close to me. His father died in the early 70's and this fancier never raced any pigeons since that time. He advertised every year as a racing and breeding stud of Dordins until very recently. He now has dropped the racing from the acvert. Many a fancier has been seen coming away from his house with a big smile and a little box or two. I suspect the seller had the biggest smile of all.
  11. Roland, it has been siad before and no dowt will be said again. The Nantes Centenary race was the window for change but sadly due to the weather turned people off this grouping idea.
  12. Probably a long shot but there is one Alan_Smith registered on this site
  13. This was one of the many quality picutres that I got m going. It is now at 2,125euros.
  14. I had never really looked at the size of our country compared to the Belgiums or the Dutch. If we are so vast which I think we are, then it does make it difficult to get into the Internationals racing scene (results wise). The real international races for me in the midlands are at the very extreme for distance to me. I think that the northern flyers are even more at a disadvantage. In order to compete with them every week you would need quite a few birds, plenty of time and be prepared to drive as many miles to get your birds marked and clock set/read. So I would say the logical thing for us North of the CSCFC boundary we need to surely amalgamate races, include the southern flyers. Get each club to have local prizes, then fed prizes then National prizes etc so everyone has something to show for their efforts. The members who are within the boundaries of the CSCFC are best placed to race almost on a level playing field with those competing from the continent. I know that getting all to agree and organising the information results etc is quite a task but with the technology we have at our disposal I am sure that this is easier than say 20 years ago. In my area I have stated that inland races should be every week in the fed and if you want to fly the channel pick a classic / National club.
  15. Sorry to sat that this is a civil dispute and the police are limited. In other words "Go to the small claims court"
  16. A lot is as oldyellow states, down to how we organise and race our birds. Too many fragmented organisations little or no co-operation between feds, nationals etc
  17. So why are the likes of Kirklands surplus birds, Chris Gordons surplus birds Brian Shepherds birds etc not on that PIPA sale site with bibbers bidding from around the globe? PS I am sure there are many more names which could have been quoted along with the above.
  18. Well I know we in the UK have some of the best and worst racing pigeons in the World. Some can compete with those Continentals but yet I still do not believe that hte best UK get the reconition. I have been looking at the PIPa site which the link is above and enjoy looking at those birds they have for sale. There forum is poor compard to our UK based sites. There sale sites are superior though. They do know how to market their birds. The write ups, the pictures etc are second to none. I wish I had a stock loft because I would be bidding on some of those birds. The adverts are so alluring. They get bids from around the world. How can this once GREAT Country get in amongst it too? http://www.pipa.be/
  19. Pesonally I think the birds that Stu has offerd to the UK are morethan fine. If I had the room I would get 10 pairs at 25 quid each. Great for any new starter to get some welll bred birds at very little cost. As To Rolland not wanting any in his fed, hogwash. There is a BICC marking station where you live and I may buy some break them out and enter them at that marking station. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I know a man who has won the section in the NFC with ybs moretimes than any other fancier I know. He suffered young bird sickness every year and they went onto to win those sections along with other prizes. ??) :B :B :B ;D > > > > If there was a risk then only one bird put into a loft in the UK or and international race where UK birds are and that none existant malady will soon spread throughout the pigeons of the Uk, NO EUROPE, NO THE WORLD, Anyone got any budgies for sale?(kewl)(ok)(ok)(ok)(ok)(ok)(ok)(ok)
  20. Surely that is part of the punishment. Let them see all the fun they could have taken part in if they followed the rules
  21. Peterpau you are a man after my own heart, plenty of colours etc, bareless (shrug)
  22. PS however if you want to be really sucessful you have to be colour blind and get the best bird based on performance. Mulemans has no chocolates now because he realized this later in his pigeon career.
  23. I still think there is room for birds of colour that win too. The last 20 or so years we have seen a decline in coloured pigeons. Mainly I think to the "in" family. At the present it is the VandieVirus which is dominating and hence mainly blue/cheq. I see a few of the SVR and many are mealy pieds with quite a few gay pieds amongst them. I think that there are so many potentially good birds about in this day and age and with the internet we who use it can see many birds for sale which we would have only dreamed of years ago. If your fancy is to get a white team racing successfully I see no reason why after seeing and selecting from the many on offer that this can not be achived over time. I would how ever cross in a few good birds of other color in the begining, weed out the none white coloured birds and pair back for white etc. In short you are creating a family of a particular kind. I would love to see a team of white birds flying around my loft and know that they too can perform as good as anyone elses.
  24. Never heard of a piano trap would you care to elaborate?
  25. 2nd one is the extreme dilute which Redcheqhen mentioned. It is a blue cheq with a gene called extreme. I like it but not as much as the self yellow I have a picture of
