hi steve, glad your happy with them.......the oldest bird was hatched around the 16th june and the younger bird sometime after that, maybe about 6 weeks old now. ill let you know courier details.

next one will be Reed which i think is about 130 miles to me...............i could put them into one or two 56 mile open races on sundays but as the weeks go by the club racing is getting further away so by the time i think they would be ready it will be Billericay and this will be maybe 170+ miles.......?

dont know if my birds have had enough training to send to this weeks peterborough race,i missed the first two newarks which are 56 miles to me so the next race will be peterborough 98 miles.....my birds have onlly had about 5 at 10 miles and 2 at 35 miles, they came well both times at 35 miles with 4/5 cocks coming first togeather and the rest all coming within the next 10 - 15 mins. should i enter them into a sunday open race which is from newark 56 miles and then jump them to reed which is over 100 miles......cant decide, what do i do ?

i have two teams of ybs, one are early bred which are nearly all paired up.......and the others are younger and some are just starting to pair up now. both teams have been on darkness altho the younger ones didnt quite get as far throught the moult as the older birds. they never really got to flying much, they were just about to group togeather when i put them onto the dark......then all they wanted to do was walk around the garden or sit on the loft roof. when i let them out for exercise ive started to let the younger birds out first, then when they look to be wanting to land i let the older ybs out......this way i can get a bit longer flying out of them.

thanks for the info, birds dont seem overweight at all.......and not been bothered by hawks etc, but other years ive never noticed my ybs flying with the beaks open......just looked strange, one thing is that they are not flying for very long at all and have never been ranging, thats why i thought there was something not quite right with them.

noticed today when my ybs landed most of them had their beaks open panting, would have understood it maybe if it had been very hot/warm but it wasnt............also noticed some were flying with their beaks open too, have they got respatory ? thanks anyone........

noticed some of my ybs are hudled up a bit and not looking too good, dont think its yb sickness as droppings seem ok and birds are eating normalish...........im wanting to treat with floroxine antibiotics which i already have which seems to cure most things in the past, only thing is i cant read the label as its worn off.........anyone know what the dosage should be please ? thanks.

wouldnt have thought they would be allowed to destroy the bird, regardless of them being a vermin company.............they should, like anyone else who comes accross a racing pigeon bearing a recognised union ring report it so the owner can claim it back if needed. if it was my bird and they took it upon themselves to destroy it i wouldnt be too pleased, and as someone has already pointed out, shooting a racing pigeon is an offense so them destroying it also would/should be too.

anyone know whats wrong with this yb, first started when it was fed and it looked like it wasnt digesting the food properly and slightly hunched..........now its wings have dropped and the bird looks kna***red and weak, eating and drinking ok tho.....??? any thought anyone please, thanks.

should be ok just while your building, but if the building work is going to take a long time i would say its far too many................i know you will have the aviery but they would still be quite crowded, id be quick with the building. jmo.
