I'm afraid so John, no reds, mealies or grizzles here. And infact my best doos every year have been cheqs or cheq white flights, never finished a season with a blue bar as my best. That may be coincidence though as majority in the loft are now cheqs.
Felt like it too for a few years, just finished building the house so garden (quarry) to sort next Ach I'm just glad to see them home George, that makes my day, anything else is a bonus, but will be trying for sure
I spent yesterday shifting soil and getting ready to build a new loft. Next stage was to shift a pile of hardcore for the base which would probably have meant hiring a dumper and messing about. Came home today though and found a wee rock fall across the track beside where lofts going. Simple case of sitting on road and lifting from one side to the other. Happy days
Been fresh up here for a few days, bleedin miserable infact. forecast not quite as bad as it was for next few days. Good weather for getting the feet up in front of the fire with a wee something
Another update from RPRA site. Update at 09.15 13th December 2016 Following a number of telephone calls with APHA/DEFRA officers yesterday I can confirm that the restriction relating to pigeons has been lifted. Fanciers are reminded that every step should be taken to avoid pigeons coming into contact with wild birds including drinking from the same water. Bit of a scunner, I was looking forwards to getting them out today, SHU say itrs okay but update on RPRA site (i'm RPRA) says no. Got a bampot neighbour so wont risk it. He would do anything he could to get to us.
Was great to catch up Frank. And one of my greatest pleasures is knowing your dad bred the sire of the best doo in the loft 😀 and i hope you didnt get in too much trouble for the state you took the boys home in!! 😉 next time bring Sarah too and make a night of it.
From RPRA site Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) Prevention Zone 7 December 2016 DEFRA have released guidance in relation to Avian Influenza which includes a Prevention Zone declaration for all poultry and captive birds. The Zone that covers the whole of England and Scotland will remain in place for a period of 30 days – until 6th January 2017. A DEFRA representative has advised that this requires the immediate and compulsory confinement of pigeons within their lofts/housing. This is necessary to avoid contact with wild birds. We have received a number of enquiries asking whether or not shows are permissible. We are waiting for confirmation from DEFRA. As soon as information is received we will update this website. Updates will also be posted on this website as and when received. Further information can be found on this page of the gov.uk website. Ian Evans General Manager
