  1. roughly about 20 inches wide ,14 inches deep and about 12 inches high although pigeons will nest anywhere, if you only got box perches they'll nest there. the white stuff is just paint for fancier's benefit although years ago they used lime wash i think(1 of the younger generation) i don't know if they still use this, some might. :-/
  2. i've used kitchen vinyl + thin sheets of ply. although at the moment i've got ply.

  6. hi dk, r u sure that the club you are joining fly in that fed as you live in west wales . have you heard about 1 loft races as you can win a lot of money in them, the europa classic race which runs from cardiff pays £30,000 for 1st prize in the main race of a series of races.plus there's a couple of cars to be won ,it costs £200 to enter a team of 3 birds(yb's)
  7. hi inv. i fly roundabout, it's easy enough to do, basically you need at least 2 sections . 1 where the birds have their nest and a spare section for the hens to go in. i let the birds have a round early in the season(to bond em to the box)and then the hens go in the other section .the birds are flown seperated around the loft/training only seeing their mate on basketing night/race day. it's a little bit similar to the door method with yb .
  8. 753mls palamos this year but it took her 2 weeks
  9. i'd keep the young as well because you can pair them with the young from her in future, i find half brother+sister a good pairing

  11. what happened in years gone by when they were not able to detect bird flu .......nothing. no people dying everywhere, nobody caught bird flu . so what's the big diffrence now
  12. if they put another ban on we should do as the french do and take to the streets ,i for 1 am fed up of being bent over the barrel.
  13. hi wings, i think that bird looks ok and going by my experiences with louella busschaerts if you cross that bird with another strain(something jansen based) i think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of racer you'd get
  14. if you don't mind me asking wings what was it?strain
  15. if the club would'nt accept 1 man because 1 member did'nt want him the rest of the club should be ashamed of themselves.i'd have told the 1 throwing his toy's out the pram to give a valid reason or shut up.
  16. we use to let our's out through out the winter but last year we had hawk problems so this year they won't be out till after the moult(give em more chance to get away)and then not every day(so we're not predicable)

  23. hi alf, i lost a cock as yb near the end of the season in the national turned up next year looking great so i paired him up and sent him to 1 comeback race and he came ok , since then he's been my most reliable bird's flying from liege in belgium on the east route and poitier's on the south that's over 400 mls in 2 directions and he's scored on both route's , i do like a yb that comes late on his own atleast you know he has'nt had to follow anything home although late all the time wont be tolerated
  24. in all national races there will be area's that are more suitable than other's but you have to look beyond that, take the barcelona international there's flyer's all across europe the winner's will get good publicity but also birds putting up tremendous performances flying off the line ,take robert ben not living in the best of area's but getting good positions and plenty of good publicity. until we start to fly in big organisations in this country we'll alway's be looked upon as mickey mouse racer's
