  1. Just got back from the Auction. Prices went from £35 up to £200. Out of my price range for Ybs. Think there was about 100 birds in total. Prize fund for the race is going to be high, looks like it will be about 40K, to share between winners?
  2. I have persuded my Dad to go, more out of curiosity, heard the other 2 sales were selling y/bs for 70-100 each. We already have some Fut birds, but if there is a bargain, you never know. Its only about 8 mile for me to get to fishburn, you would have a canny distance to go Mac. Dave
  3. we were at wakefield too, 67 miles our club winner (not me, we were nowhere) was on at 1458.59 about 1 hr 20 mins. You have some class bird there, well done. Dave
  4. Have you cleaned the wound, we use a mix of diluted detol, and you can get antibiotic powder from a vets. If its a hole it may be worth getting it stiched up. I would use paper in the box, so that stops the bird picking anything up, then change daily. They do heal fairly quickly, but by given it helping hand it should be ok. Dave
  5. Last Nehu Futurity Sale for this year. (breeder buyer sale) Wednesday 11th at Fishburn Workingmans Club. Viewing from 6:30 pm Sale starts at 7:30 pm. Anyone going? Dave
  6. We had one caught on some barbed wire, by its leg, limped around for about a wek and seems fine. Do you think the bird will heal up, or is it a get rid? Still hope yet Had one of my FUT birds dissappear for 3 days, came back nice and hungry. Just had one come back last night (late) that went missing 2 1/2 - 3 weeks ago, very thin but made it home. Wheres it been ?? probaly trying to avoid the hawks. Dave
  7. Fustrating when they do that, still have time to get back, but a night out on the tiles would be good for them. Was the injured one from a hawk attack or has it just hit something. Hopefully if no hawks are around it makes things easier for them to find their way home.
  8. will keep an eye out for them here, but wind wa blowing south today. Got one back after 3 days missing, still have 4 missing, but they are probably hawk food by now, or down the town having fish and chips with the strags. Dave
  9. ours 65-67 miles Wakefield too
  10. Durham Combine from Wakefield bout 65 mile Sending but not sure how many yet.

    AMTRAK AGAIN

Lost my bird, i had taken the day off work to wait in for it. I went to local depot the next day (arranged with the manager) before i went to work. When i got there i said have you got any compesation forms as i was paying for an ovenight delivery. He turned round and said, you dont need to do that take your bird, its our fault have it free. I believe they have been taken over now, but i do not know who by, any ideas? Dave
  12. I was checking my YBS today and thought i am sure have stamped all these and wrote down the numbers. It has faded already and i only did them about 3 weeks ago. Perhaps i need some fresh ink for my stamper, but it looks ok on paper and on the wings when i did them. Dave
  13. Thanks All, Still got 36 out of 40 y/bs at the moment, lost 4 just going round the lofts. Hawks been about so that might have got one or two. Had 2 that just wanted freedom and took off like no tomorrow, heading west. Had first training chuck today for old birds, all came back, some a lot slower than others. 1st race next week, so they may get 2 more chucks, its only 65 mile and they fly round the loft for a least an hour each day. Dave
  14. heard reports that ten dropped together at Tindale Crescent in 1hr 40 mins, good going in that cold strong wind. Any other times? Dave
  15. Any idea what the time was Mac?
  16. Have just found out what time they went up, that time of day at Aycliffe was about a 20 mph north east wind, so they would have had to work today. Be amazed if the 1st bird does it in about 1 hour 10mins with that wind. dave
  17. What time was the race, never saw anything here at Aycliffe. But it was slightly overcast till about midday. We Durham Combine have our 1st race from Wakefield on Sat 7th 65 mile for us. Cant wait, not that we do any good from that distance as our birds ar mostly 400 mile + birds (channel racing) but have got some new birds in last year to try this year if that makes sense. Dave

    Club Systems

Good idea, if you ever do it i would be happy to give it a try. I can do simple stuff with excel, but might find doing this type of worksheet a bit too complicated. Dave
  19. will keep an eye out round Aycliffe area. But we have lots of hawk attacks at the moment another 2 taken today. Dave
  20. 7th April from Wakefield about 65 miles. Durham Combine
  21. Newton Aycliffe about 15-20 miles North West of Boro Dave
  22. Is that the same as the wire cage? Dave
  23. The lads already have this set up, but the hawk hasnt been near it. Thanks Dave
  24. Hi having really bad hawk problems. Our allotment lofts have had daily strikes for the past 3 days. Another 2 birds taken today (not mine) 1 yb and 1 old bird. We have shiny cds up everywhere, have been playing the eagle owl cd. The eagle owl cd , just seems to make the hawk sit in some bushes about 400 yrds away. Once it stops within about 10 mins its out and about. I have been keeping my birds in, but certain people up the lofts just keep letting their birds out. Ha might get a chance to get some points at this rate. (dont knwo how we can train at this rate. Apart from a 12 bore which is not allowed, any ideas? Dave
  25. Hi all, would be interested in some details of how to fill forms in(or forms filled in), to show my dad who is club sec. It may be worth trying for a grant. Dave
