Anyone live in Leeds, that would act as a stopover, thats if he goes that far. I need to get some birds from Swindon soon, Leeds is about an hour for me (south), would save me a lot of aggro especially after the last perfomance i had with Amtrak. Dave

well done mate, I will have to get this hen flying better that you gave me last season, her brother went awol but is now lofted in hull. I have her paired to our 6 year old cock and he was our 1st bird back from Wakefield, but not in the points. Only about 11/2 minutes behind the wing bird. Great start, I will have to get some more youngens from you. I hope to start getting more training in but have been too busy and the weather has been crap. I know we are sending our birds to France with the West Durham this year, Bourges and Beauvais , but we go with the D Combine for Lillers. Dave

Durham Combine from Newark 111 miles for us and 2nd race. Only had 2 training tosses, and last weeks race was 65 mile head winds and snow, so hopefully should be ok. Forecast for heavy showers. Dave

I think it could be genuine, i have a 04 cock bird that filled 6 eggs last year, this year 1 up to now out of 4 eggs. I have another 06 bird hopefully 2 out of 4 up to now. I have normally got 50 ybs by now, but this year 33, I think the weather and cold winds have a factor on this, been really bad here this year. (never known such cold winds). Ps i live about 14 miles form Boro. But if he is taking the Pi** then people need to know, I would believe him after such a short period but not after 3-4 months. Dave

Hi yes i did get lot 1 for the bargain price, lovely hen. Got another bargain from Mr Harbron (brother) from the Jewkes and Harbron partnership, give me a young Gervert cock bird free, only cos he won the Gervert i was after. it was good to be there, only went there at the last minute as i had just finished work. Didnt win any prizes in the raffle, but bought 2 wispa bars (the wife and daughter were chuffed with them). Lamb bros won the loft. Good turnout, thought the prices would have been a lot higher. Dave

Hi Sean, wish i could have had one in 4 hrs, would have been well chuffed. got mine back in 14:14 not too bad considering hes only had one race at 113 miles (and not a lot of training, just havent had the time). Still waiting for the other one to come home. Best times i have heard are 11:30ish 165 miles and 11:52ish 178miles, so time will be close.

If anyone going Nottingham way this week, would be obliged if they could take a bird for release in that area. If anyone available please, let me know, by message or on the forums. Dave sorry forgot to say bird is at Newton Aycliffe

The 3 sites would be no good without getting proper access. If you look at the previous posts i have said the out of them 3 only one could be realy good if access could be gained with permission from filtronic /fujistu who own the land, possibly. An Rpra code would have to be applied for if access was available. The current site at the hotel / macdonalds carpark has a code, but is not that good unless totally empty, i have always seen at least 6 or 7 hgv always parked there. Again if i saw a potential site i could look at it and get a gogle earth print for all to look at. (again Rpra codes would have to be applied for). Dave

Its no problem looking round for somwhere, the place is that big, but there is so much building going on, it is hard to find a decent location. All the big old lorry parks and open spaces have been blocked off, due to the travelling community taking up habit. Dave

Lost out of loft, she was allowed in and out as she was in retirement. Lost from loft at Newton Aycliffe Blue Hen 98GBE07739. Grateful for any help if found, please Pm Dave Just as well the other older one is still here, Dad likes to keep his good old hens.

Another site which could possibly be used is a lorry park, that overlooks the oakleaf leisure fields, i think this is a council maintained hgv park. How busy it gets i dont know, but again depending if other events were on would determine its use. Marked on the map as lorry park. Lots of areas look empty, but there is lots of development going on, most open spaces are blocked for access.

went and had a look at the sites, not good news. Aycliffe1 access blocked with boulders, but hgv could probably drive over the kerbs. the area use to be ued for hgv driver training, and has a lip / path about six foot wide. Aycliffe3 was a factory that had been demolished, now fenced off and work in progress. Aycliffe2 this would be ideal, good access road and large open area, but padlocked.this land may be owned by Filtronic /fujistu as it was the site used by the builders.

I watched them lib on Saturday, shy was good and clear, had a strong wind but not overpowering. All the birds cleared very well, and even went in the right direction (wish mine would). We had 3 or 4 club members watching and we couldnt believe how quick so many birds cleared. Dave
