  1. Wouldn't mind a few of Mr Nicholson's doos, cracking result for his loft
  2. Aye, you let your attention to detail slip there Billy
  3. If you cam stick the anxiety, i suggest you leave the doos alone. The ones who have a weak constitution will fall by the wayside, the healthier ones will survive unscathed and set you up for breeding more robust youngsters in years ahead. Its no easy to do this, the rewards however are worth it in the long run, i don't get sick birds in my loft these days, unless its doos i've brought in. Took 5/6 seasons to get there but i'm sooo glad i moved in this direction, and my results are improving too
  4. I know a lot of fanciers who bought, what they were told were the best of the Roland Jansens, and they are not delivering the goods for them. I don't mean novices, i'm talking about some of the best fanciers in Lanarkshire fed. So i would suggest you look around for something PROVEN to race in this country. jmo
  5. There she is hittin me and takin the laptop, catch you's the morra
  6. Very true, but i doubt if we will be able to rectify the problem, first wan tae get 6 months up them for taking action on hawks/falcons, everybody else will stay well clear. We'll need to breed 3 eyed doos, wan on the tap eh there nut
  7. Excuse ma ignorance but i never knew there was another John on the thread, only know a few REAL names on here.........Your also right, G Rankin & Son Gareth timed Westbound in an almost gale force wind, and that wasn't yesterday, so they've faced every type of element over the years. I think the pioneers of distance racing into Scotland, must have suffered similarly in those days, as we are now, evolution if you like, and we're only a part of the overall process, the question is how far will we send them and how many can actually do it? not many from 650+ i'd say. again jmo.
  8. I did put on the Tail of that post JMO Rab, cos thats what it is, just ma opinion :D

  12. CAN YOU READ?? I never mentioned quality, i said DIFFERENT DOOS, don'y put words in ma mouth
  13. its the only answer, if i had any other thoughts on it i would say, but there is no other answer to it.
  14. Nut it! whatever it is you want to get it as far from the rest as possible, and the bin is about as far as it gets!!
  15. In bygone years i used to ask ma Da, how come he won in the club/fed but couldn't get the same success with the SNFC, he said "different type of doos". He explained it something like this. When all the birds are racing into the same area they have company almost all of the way home, but national doos had to break from the batch and head for home on their own for 50/100 mls, which is an unnatural act for it, safety in numbers, now i think that with the distances stretching "different doos" is whats needed. with very small numbers being sent so far off, its doos that can more or less single up from 500+ miles we now need for this race. jmo.
  16. To your family too
  17. Cheers mate i'll send him an e-mail.

  23. If you want to, you can visit me any weekend, and i will show you how i keep my birds, and hopefully answer some of your queries while we're at it.
  24. Definitely NO oxo cubes in the water, and if you want to get sugars into them, put some honey into a little boiling water until it melts and add that instead of silver spoon As for feeding, there are more ways, and mixtures to use to feed them that it won't make any real difference to your plans, i would suggest you buy ANY Breeding mix as this usually has a good variety of food in it. jmo.
