  1. I am sitting outside at present watching the darkness yb s exercise ,I have just started working them hard the last few nights they are starting to range and gain height with that comes the falcon problem ,She went at them last night singling one out but missing it the rest just kept exercising she came back at them at a greater height but after a while of tracking them flew away ,she has been at them 10minutes ago but failed again 35 or so are at a height still flying an hour after I let them out they will not be so lucky every night but if they don't get put up and fit they have no chance, When I lived on the outskirts of the town 23years ago when the falcon attacked them then they would immediately hit the ground and fly into things they see them every day here so seem to accept it I have the other alternative give them up but I ain't doing that ,Good luck .

    Maidstone

Can't understand Maidstone being a liberation point it lies on the Thames estuary and direct in line with the city of London that has one of the busiest air routes in Europe ,if common sense prevailed Portsmouth in the centre of the south coast would be the safest liberation site with the birds racing into wide open countryside with plenty of time for them to sort themselves into open batches major problem at Maidstone if birds are in guernsey and Southern Ireland .

Good luck Every race now is Hell lol .
  9. If you lived in the Moffat hills ,range my friend does not exist ,first time they try it they are hit end of ranging then its fear factor round the rooftops ,basket training must start at min of 8miles anything shorter they will be hit as they leave the basket ,if I liberate in small groups which I do say 4groups one will be struck enroute every time guaranteed so got to accept I will loose 20percent prior to first race ,the young are flying as strong as the parents at present and must hone there skills to survive very sad but very true .
  10. Hi Anthony In the ideal world the youngsters years ago were given as many tosses leading up to the first race as possible including the race point the week previous ,nowadays the peregrine problem curtails that so well schooled in small groups up to 25 mls does ok for me then of to 70mls,Always think their health is more important yb s when in perfect health should never circle when released they should always head for home ,my personal thoughts if they don't is respiratory Good luck mick
