Kyleakin Lofts Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Due to recent discussions on another site and as a matter of interest, how does the SHU make contact with its members? Being a delegate I receive mailings. I make a report to my Federation after the meeting and ask them to give me direction prior to attending the meeting. I am happy that my members should know what is happening within the SHU, if the Federation Delegates carry out their duties in a similar manner. What are the opinions of the members on here, how do you receive your contact?
b.massey Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Nothing received here tbh I’ve even emailed a few times tho SHU office and zero reply Called to report a stray and was told if member just put in stray basket!! So to keep Pigeon for 10 days now with no race rather than just give me the owners details I think SHU is miles behind tbh Website is still 2016 info!!

Delboy Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Andy, you are a breath of fresh air for the SHU, you endeavour to do the correct thing for the benefit of our sport. I wish others would follow your lead.

b.massey Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Why not look up the ring book Brian, gives you the club sec number Yeah that’s true Bobby Just thought a quick call to shu and I’d get owner details Forgot I have that book Also thought most people would wing stamp too
Kyleakin Lofts Posted July 27, 2018 Author Report Posted July 27, 2018 Why not look up the ring book Brian, gives you the club sec number I have also noticed that a lot of members do not use the ring book even though a lot of Feds give further details in their own book. Members need to help themselves as well as expecting officials to perform their tasks.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted July 27, 2018 Author Report Posted July 27, 2018 Yeah that’s true Bobby Just thought a quick call to shu and I’d get owner details Forgot I have that book Also thought most people would wing stamp too Wing stamping was the original debate causing me to make this post. It seems very few know that they cannot race YB's unless they are wing stamped or carry a telephone ring according to SHU rules, with no exceptions, even the YB National.

When did the rule get changed? 24. Individual organisations will decide whether members may be allowed to race young birds which are wearing removable address rings or which have been wing stamped with name, address or telephone number The SNFC have there own rule on wing stamp and it stands

Henrik Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 The SNFC have there own rule on wing stamp and it stands As you know SNFC rules were not forwarded to the SHU for ratification, I believe, and this is only my opinion that anyone disqualified for having a wingstamp or tel ring on in the YB National would win an appeal to the SHU
clockman Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Rule was changed at this years AGM, to members "MUST" wingstamp or have tel no ring before they can race the YBs. Thanks Peter.
DJL Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Rule was changed at this years AGM, to members "MUST" wingstamp or have tel no ring before they can race the YBs. Do you think the rule will be enforced Bobby
Henrik Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Do you think the rule will be enforced BobbyThat will be down to the clubs to do, but if your not going to enforce a rule, whats the point of having any?
jbee Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Bobby, on last years agenda it was only rule 26 from race rules that was to be modified from should to must. Rule 24 as George stated was not on the agenda for changing .John b

Kyleakin Lofts Posted July 27, 2018 Author Report Posted July 27, 2018 All clubs will be expected to follow the rule. Some may not carry it out. The problem will only exist if a club member insists on their right to follow the rule. If the SNFC insist on obliterating wing stamps and force removal of telephone ring and the individual appeals to the SHU, then the SNFC will lose their case because they will be in contravention of the SHU rule. This is the debate on the other site and my reason for asking on here about communication. It seems communication, the most important of things within any organisation, has broken down. Are SHU delegates reporting to their Feds? Do Fed secretaries receive communication regards SHU agendas? Do Fed delegates report to their clubs? Do members check the SHU website? Is the SHU website up to date?Has the SHU disengaged from its membership or has the membership disengaged from the SHU?
jbee Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Rule 24 was on the agenda and was deleted to prevent the contradiction that existed prior to its deletion. The shu constitution online requires updating . Rule 24 is still there and 26 still has should and not must.
