Buff Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 Just got my wee team of youngsters in tonight ( not flying yet ) and about 2 mins later a Hen sparrow Hawk came between the houses and right over the Avery ( where the youngsters were only a few minutes earlier) and headed down the park hunting !! Lucky to say the least . Ordered a Decoy owl 🦉 just now . Any other deterrent ideas ?
walterboswell59 Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 my old pal and a few others swear by the orange rotating light you get on the top of jcbs tracktors and such but moving it on is better if it can be done
greenlands Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 Here's mine mate, just added another crow to this, now two crows and an owl.The crows are loosely stapled to the fence and move with the least bit of wind.

eastcoaster Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 My birds are on open hole all day and I use flashing lights I got from aldi never had a hit while they are out but don't use them all the time as the hawks will get used to them ( not saying they are a garentee ).

Rebus Posted May 9, 2018 Report Posted May 9, 2018 Aye I've tried just about everything, nothing seems to work, things will ease a bit now the trees are filling out and the hen goes to nest then the smaller birds will get it,and the rsbp will blame farming methods for the decline in song birds. The public are so gullible. Good luck with your start in this frustrating sport. Wishing you a good first season with young birds.
