STB Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 My uncle talking to a neighbour who said did he have permision to build a pigeon loft in his garden . He then phoned fife council planing who have said he needs a letter of consent from them which costs £120 and the loft cannot be more than 4m long x 1.8 m wide and 2m high also must be 1.5 meters away from neighbours boundrie fences . Not much of a loft that 12 x 6 . They said once he pays the £120 he will get a letter of consent and can put the loft up and they will check its the corret dimensions once its up . Anyone else have those restrictions . Had hoped to put up 2 x 16 x 8 foot lofts .
hotrod Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 Does he own the house ? If so he can put up what he wants ,as long as it's not a permanent fixture . IE brick built . Oh and you being a joiner like 4m is not 12 feet it's nearly 15 feet lol .and any other place if your building even an extension it's a meter away from your neighbours boundary not 1.5 m .
bigjamie Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 is that harry just there and an ass hole has started sh** already
THE FIFER Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 It's not just in Fife there are some places in the towns you are not allowed to keep pigeons, even if you own the house, I live in Leven there are about 5 lofts in Leven but there are some houses where it is not allowed, for some reason or not, a lot depends on what is on your deeds , STB,s uncle is obviously allowed pigeons so no problem there.

Yes he is allowed pigeons but hadnt exspected the loft size to be so small archie . Is that par for the course . He bought the cottage as there were no restrictions on the deeds but some of the modern bungalows he looked at had no livestock on them .
STB Posted August 25, 2017 Author Report Posted August 25, 2017 is that harry just there and an ass hole has started sh** alreadyNot really Jamie they dont stay next to him but did ask if he had permision for pigeons. As it turned out he dosent need it and the letter hes toget only states that . A well 12 x 6 do for the young birds next year to start with lol .

Yes he owns the house .but they have confirmed max is 4m x 1.8 .or less for a pigeon loft . 1m = 3ft 3inches x 4 is 13ft no 15ft so its 3 x 1240 sheets which is 12ft nae wastage on cut sheets hear . Lol 4.8 is just under 16ft .

walterboswell59 Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) hamilton council have the same ruling rab but after they come and check it you dont get any bother unless some nice person complains so you can add on the next year tell harry to keep the neighbours sweet and he should be okps tell him to put up a nice garden shed or two that does not look like a doo hut theres ways round it if you know what i mean Edited August 25, 2017 by walterboswell59
STB Posted August 25, 2017 Author Report Posted August 25, 2017 The old one re lofts sheds etc used to be you must leave 1 third of area clear, don't know if this still goes, is his neighbour against the loftNo Archie just asked not complaining but thought best to check first . The girl in planning was helpfull and he can get a letter of consent from them for £120 and then theres no come back . Been checking through other councils regs some are not more that 30% of curtilage (garden size ) other not more than than 50% curtilage some like fife state a specific size and even seen one that only permits 12 pigeons to be kept. Lol not muchfeeding for percie there . You dont have size restrictions on other none permenant structures but if pigeons are kept the size is stated . Anyway 12 ft and with the freshsea air it might exspand in time lol

His cottage has dormer up stairs but the cottages next door dont so cant actually see into his garden so we will be using the ways and the means lol
THE FIFER Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 I would explain this size would not be good for the birds as they require space for air etc, good that the neighbour is not against, I think he will get it in the end, and what the pigeon Fanciers do to help people in need etc,
Roland Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 4m is not 12 feet it's nearly 15 feet lol. Sorry 4m is 13.2 feet lol.

My brother -in law is on a council where some parts are barred from having pigeons. I challenged him that no bye law can supersede a law of the land - as that fancier got a few grand compensation when he went to court against Leicester council. He said 'Well no one has every challenged it ... or is likely to'.
