REDCHEQHEN
Took dog to the vet for her annual booster - I paid in advance for this - boosters for life - £99 (paid that about 3 years ago when she was a puppy) Currently booster vaccinations are £29 (dog does not get vaccinated for kennel cough which is separate) Dog (is a female) and has not as yet been spayed - cost is £199 (under 10kg) She also needs her teeth cleaning (£99) and may need extractions (the £99 then becomes £199) If she does not need any extractions - they can combine spaying with teeth cleaning and reduce bill by £50 (spaying and teeth cleaning therefore £250) However if dog needs extractions - that's £199 for extractions and £199 for spaying I am not in any dog health 'clubs' What are your charges? PS - I take the pigeons to a different vet!
andy Burgess
try negotiating with the vet (not the receptionist) . look to moving practices , and look into P.D.S.A. , think you will qualify .
REDCHEQHEN
It's fixed prices Andy - no room for negotiation unless 2 procedures carried out - £50 off. That was it! And only because it was one anaesthetic and not 2. The vaccinations for life is only with that vet.

Pet Plan cover ours for dental work, but as ours are rescues they get spayed, teeth done, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped before you get them. REDCHEQHEN
I don't have insurance, as with most insurances- I am of the belief that they take your money and then tell you they won't pay out when you claim for whatever excuse they can think of! I have spoken to one person locally who is with a different vet, she is in a healthy dog club. But the fees are about the same- plus she pays every month as well to be in this "healthy dog club" (but has a bigger dog, who is also rescue - a greyhound, it cost her £190 for extractions last week)
THE FIFER
try negotiating with the vet (not the receptionist) . look to moving practices , and look into P.D.S.A. , think you will qualify .PDSA does not pay for teeth cleaning or extractions, also if they go in for cleaning they are put to sleep and they will ask if you want their mails cut which is extra , it cost me £230 to get my dogs teach cleaned and 3 extractions , I had the bridge teeth fall out so had to go to the dentist for to get roots out and fittings for dentures had 5 visits and cost me £
JohnQuinn
When I had my greyhound my uncle used tae tell me not to walk him past the vets window in case he seen him and charged us me a consultation fee the next time I took him, and expletive remove don't let the vet clap him 🤣🤣
