dkj
i think at 560ml the leading pigeons will hold there own line, as there s no drag at the front. when they are fit and motivate the right way, no matter where you stay, reims can be win anywhere in scotland on the right day, and i think winners break for home hundreds of miles from home for there own line i think at 560ml the leading pigeons will hold there own line, as there s no drag at the front. when they are fit and motivate the right way, no matter where you stay, reims can be win anywhere in scotland on the right day,and i think winners break for home hundreds of miles from home to get there own line
Roland
If the M6 M74 A1 M8 etc etc etc were built OVER hills and mountains do you think our birds would follow roads ??? I don't buy the follow roads theory, it just so happens the roads go through the hills just as the birds do and did before there wee any roads to follow !! Wind direction determines 99% of results. Jmo Spot on. But I don't for a minute believe that the birds would enter the mainland at the bottom. They would fly over the water. Well certainly till the needed to come inland, where they would possibly dog leg. Also, I believe that the distance in a straight line dishonours these great birds.... they would most probably hit the mainland a little earlier in many case which in it's self adds milage to their wings. Guest IB
Yes, I'd often wondered what roads they followed over the English Channel. And when they hit the English Coast who tells them what road they are on or should be on, and where to leave it? But one thing is very apparent from the photos of Britain taken from the Space Station orbiting Earth, and that is how well Britain is lit during darkness hours. Roads, towns, cities and industry. So I think these will have an impact on direction when they start to lose natural daylight.
Roland
One thing for certain, and yet again proven, is the fact that we don't have the slightest inkling of how the homing instinct works. Let alone what it is! Every thought from the Magnetic fields, to the Sun, smell etc. etc. has been proven to be irrelevant.
