Without a nuclear deterrent Putin will walk all over the top of you.I believe that it is a condition of NATO membership that a given percentage of GDP is spent on defence. If trident replacement is a sensible means of doing this then great. If no one had nuclear weapons then we would live in a safer world but that's not going to happen is it?The SNP need to be ousted as soon as possible because they only pursue their own agenda whether it benefits the voter or not.As far as wee Nippy is concerned she is a complete joke.

Novice Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Just been sooked in the media propoganda ie putin Why not instead of spending on this they could actually spend the money on the military giving the guys on the ground the proper equipment to do their jobs? Believe me I haven't been sooked in.It's the Elected representatives decision how they spend the money.Current fashion seems to be not to use ground troops ( which would have seen mission accomplished in Syria years ago). They prefer to throw the money away trying to bomb people who are buried deep in a maze of tunnels.I agree that if ground troops are sent into any situation they need the proper equipment. Enough from me I have said more than my share now.
peter pandy Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 As far as I am concerned Trident will give my Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and their Children security in the future.

Guest bigda Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 As far as I am concerned Trident will give my Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and their Children security in the future. If Isis hit this, we here in the whole of Scotland would all be wiped. Out. Why would any one want that here when england has plenty of places to store it ,if its a deterant . why here. No need to. Be. worrying about future grand kids only in scotland they like to a get a. Big boot in the bawz from England. Lol
philg50 Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 IMO ,no difference if we have it or dont ,if there is an attack on Britain probably Faslane we will be wiped out the only thing is if we have it we can strike back on the event of an attack ,as a threat of don't hit us or we will hit you senario the attacker pushing the button will probably be a maniac with no control on his logical thoughts so ??
VMS Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Posted July 19, 2016 The amount employed directly and indirectly from the base is massive if it was closed the local area would become a ghost town like Dunoon did after the Americans left.I do not believe these MPs that voted no are fit for purpose and the sooner this country gets rid ov the SNP the better IMO.We must have a nuclear deterrent and I believe the defence budget should be increased greatly in the world we live in today
Cooheed Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 we wont have any children grand children or great grandchildren deterant or no deterant if someone presses the button , as for jobs there has been bigger employers closed down ie ravenscraig and we survived so that argument is crap.

Cooheed Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Ravenscraig only employed 1500 before it closed not 10,000 plus vinny there was a lot more than that if you count in all the local companies and there has been a lot more companies went to the wall and we survived 10000 plus at faslane wouldnt all loose jobs half are naval and would be transfered to portsmouth ect and there would still be a scottish naval base there why have somthing that s cost is way over the top and and rising as it is built if ever it does get completed if usa or russia pressed the button faslane or scotland wouldnt be any longer so let them argue it out and give the proud people and grand children great grand children of scotland ,england, ireland and wales a better living using monies that would be ill spent on trident
