what 2 transporters for 7 races

with most races only 1 needed to go to the racepoint

and not even 1 needed to go when getting a lift from another organisation

that would be a total waste of money

Seen this pickup truck arrive at Newmains and agree that transport of these birds could have been better' however the fact that the SNFC don't own a transporter or baskets has nothing to do with how they were ferried in to Newmains, that's down to the guys in Ayrshire who arranged transport.

Don't think for a minute that the SNFC need to purchase there own transporters or baskets as the cost and upkeep could not be justified' however their are far better federation transporters available in Scotland than the ones the SNFC currently use.

Think it would be a good idea if they could do a wee ETS school during the winter. Been pretty poor that guys don't know how to use the Tauris or Bricon Systems. Couple of pints and a few sandwiches after an hour or two going through the systems would be money well spent.

Agree Frank, they also need to invest in a T3 printer that they don't have which for me is a joke ( mighty SNFC )

There was a Good full sized Geraldy on offer from one of the Welsh organisations for about £6k. 6,000brds capacity and modern feeding/watering system in place. We don't need tae pay out fortunes for new transporters and we would have the freedom to move marking/Racing to suit when the weather forecasts tell us there is NO CHANCE of a race on the intended date. It s the self reliance we need moving forward.

Maybe add on how to help out at a marking station too,

you would still need another as you cant go round all the stations with only 1 transporter

I wouldn't take a geraldy if I got it for free

my fed has one and I would go back to an old style one in a minute

far better in my opinion , ive noticed losses are far worse since we got the geraldy

theres no comfort for birds being stuck on cardboard sheets for days at a national race

where in baskets with straw/ shavings etc far more comfortable

Problem with owning a wagon is the cost of upkeep aswell as the mot testing etc......for 7 races would it be viable?

Each to our own , IMO the birds have better access to water on the Geraldy and that's more important than an inch of shavings tae rest on.....Also no matter what transport is used ferrying of pigeons to the actual Race transporter will always need to be done so one transporter has Never been enough to do all the pick ups.

John' I agree with you but on our transporters we can have both if we want to' that's why we got the plate added to the crates but we don't do it where IMO we should for fed races and if we were ever to convoy the SNFC

Agree with ye Davie I would put a lot more dressing in the crates, as ye say that's why we got our own design.
