hope you guys are lib long before lanarkshire or vice versa as a strong east wind forcast for sunday i forsee heavy losses if we meet

well sorry to say i told you so guys but i did but not because they mixed although it maybe a factor as the birds coming back into lanarkshire from the west may have met the ayrshire birds that were libbed 15 mins or so behind them who knows its just a fact the unfit and inexperienced birds just dont handle south east winds well and carry on with the wind pushing them father away by the the time the birds know they have made a mistake and turn for home they then face a head wind when there already tired and go down or end up in ireland and many will not return now till the wind turns to the west or north when i saw the forcast i told jim 4 days before what would happen in a south east wind and only to send his fittest most experienced birds he has 3 to come from 33 sent i have 3 to come from 63 sent this is not rocket science lads its just observation over the years pigeons dont like south east winds if we had been racing the west route the losses would have been much worse as the birds do not get time to find there line before there blown off course and past its nothing new and has always been this way when ever you see a south east forcast choose what you send and keep the best and unfit at home a week off will do them no harm

I got caught Walter have lost 10 nice hens but my problem is if they missed this week next week is an even bigger jump as it was their first race of season just my luck or misjudgment that the east wind was so strong ,

At this minute I have 4 Ayrshire doo,s all claimed an AD bird and 2 pentland birds in my loft that tells you what kind of day it was .

yes it was bang on forcast colin but learned through the hard knocks better to wait another week and a few more tosses than take the chance in a south east lost to many good birds this way before the penny dropped m8 they can take the jump no problem hope you get them as i said many turn up when the wind changes

Must be the toughest place to race pigeons. It must feel like you've been booted in the baws with a pair of steelies. Gutted for you Ayrshire guys you seem to get it every year without fail.

Got 5 today 12/21 only one hen home from 10 sent

You lads got it bad. Had a cracking looking cheqer pied land with two of ours but didn't come in. I haven't seen it before but I'm sure we saw a few racers heading north over us yesterday. . We always see a few streeters about but these were different. Suppose it would figure with the fresh easterly wind. Well of track where ever they were going.

Have lost better mate part of the game ,time we got used to it from 100 to 500 miles sadly they are there to loose.its the highs that make up for it.When you getting racing again

Losing pigeons from a hard race is no problem. Losing pigeons from a freak race from just over 100 miles is a problem. There are issues which have evolved over time and we need to resolve these. On Sunday conditions were just not right for pigeons to orientate it's as simple as that.

Personally I didn't send because I felt that there was an element of a gamble involved at the weekend.

I certainly had no intention of subjecting my birds to 3 hours extra in a basket ( race marking postponed by 21 hours) to accommodate the Saturday night p*ss heads. Everyone's birds deserve better than that.

Note- I don't send with Ayrshire.

your not in lanarkshire m8 thats how its been since i started keeping pigeons south east winds nearly always big losses in our area dont know about where you sit in the far west maybe in your position id be praying for east winds but not here dont mind a north east as the head wind steadies them up a bit and gives the birds time to break but no south easts for me jmo
