Grizzlecock Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Are there any pigeon fanciers who actually insure there racing pigeons. If so how much does it cost
Tony C Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I knew a pigeon fancier that would insure pigeon lofts but said it was impossible for him to insure pigeons that flew out of said lofts.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I think the cost would be prohibitive, but as Tony says once the pigeons are out the loft there are too many unknowns for Insurance Companies to take the risk. Even with medical cover for dogs, preventatives are not covered, so again hardly worthwhile for the pigeons.Perhaps captive stock of great value would be worthwhile considering.
showman Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Experienced the same thing a few years ago Tony. Insuring the lofts against 'confirmed' arson was about the only thing they would be interested in quoting for. The pigeons themselves.....no chance, and you can understand their point !!
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 My lofts are in the garden and covered under my building insurance along with the sheds pet insurance is done on an individual basis - not collectively Can you imagine - £10 a month per bird LOL!!!!

kingziemckay Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Are there any pigeon fanciers who actually insure there racing pigeons. If so how much does it cost you can get insurance for them based,on there overall value,to replace them, or a fixed price per bird to replace them, all they want to know is total content value in loft, it is a specialist market and big brokers wont look at you, and it is not very expensive,,,as you might think.... location has a big part to do with it,is there alot of thefts, arson, attacks etc,in your area, all comes in to it,when the want to insure you,
