Having spoke to our race controller at the time "of the escape" The poor quality string burst on the escape basket Loanhead No 5 basket and the club were notified of the situation immediately. This was long before our race controller deemed it suitable to liberate our pigeons,as at that time he was in contact with me due to the situation. However we in the east didn't have the situation of possible rain in the afternoon as could've happened in your area, so your decision to liberate is yours on your experience of being a race controller and the circumstances on the day, your shout as they say. Just thought I should clear this up for the benefit of the Pentland Fed members.

bullcock Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Stuart, we have only lost 4 birds all season until today, still waiting on 12, but we don't blame you your doing your best and I thought going first at that time gave us the sky to ourselvs as I believe from pb there was a lot of feds at Newark and we avoided the lottery of everyone going 15 minutes apart. We had bird taking the jump from otterburn (our choice) but nobody could forecast them not clearing where a good start was curicial but thats pigeon racing, your doing a good job Stuart. no complaints here.

Ps birds not clearing at Newark isn't new all the guys that were there say it happens all the time .WHY no one knows . Then u get a guy that says he's 15 miles north of Newark says it was ,his words , PERFECT at about 09.45 , so we go at 9.00 they take 11/15 mins to clear , say 20/25 mins to fly 15 miles ????? What time is that anywhere between 9.30 ~ 9.45 .so there was nothing wrong with the weather end of , it's not rocket science . Ok maybe it is .

North Rd feds who went later (libs between 10 0'clock - 11 o'clock) had dodgy racing out of there too. Considering we fly around the 110-120 mile mark this shouldn't be so. This isn't the first time this has happened out of there, has been going on for the last 10 years or so. Last year the fed I fly in decided to give Newark a miss due to the erratic racing we get out of there, why we went back this year I just don't know. The race point is a wrong-un.
Tony C Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 These big lighting masts at Newark lib site seem a bit high just to throw light, am wondering if there's something else in them that could be screwing the pigeons up http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/uploads/monthly_05_2015/post-607-14323689808816_thumb.jpg http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/uploads/monthly_05_2015/post-607-14323743279212_thumb.jpg
